Product Overview

The Omron G3NA-210B-UTU DC5-24 is a 10A solid state relay (SSR) designed for reliable high-cycle load switching in industrial control panels. This SSR features DC5-24V control input compatible with PLC transistor outputs, and switches AC200-240V loads up to 10A. The DIN rail mounting design enables easy panel installation. Zero-cross switching reduces electrical noise and extends load life. Built-in snubber circuit and varistor provide surge absorption for inductive loads. Ideal for heater control, solenoid valves, and lamp switching applications.

FAQ for G3NA-210B-UTU DC5-24

When should I use SSR instead of mechanical relay?
Choose SSR for: high-cycle applications (>1 operation/second), silent operation required, no contact arcing (hazardous locations), long life without maintenance, or switching sensitive electronic loads. Choose mechanical relay for: low-cycle applications, cost sensitivity, or DC load switching.
Do I need a heat sink for this SSR?
For loads under 5A at ambient below 40°C, no heat sink needed. For 5-10A loads or ambient above 40°C, use Y92B-N50 heat sink. SSRs generate heat (1.6V × load current = power dissipation). Proper heat sinking is critical for reliability.
What is zero-cross switching and why does it matter?
Zero-cross turns on the SSR when AC voltage crosses zero volts, minimizing inrush current and electrical noise. Benefits: reduced EMI/RFI interference, longer load life (especially heaters and transformers), and reduced stress on the SSR. Not suitable for phase-angle control applications.
Can this SSR switch DC loads?
No, G3NA-210B is AC output only. For DC loads, use G3NA-D series DC output SSRs or G3NB/G3NE MOS FET SSRs. AC SSRs use TRIAC/thyristor outputs that won't turn off with DC loads.
What protection do I need for inductive loads?
For inductive loads (contactors, solenoids, motors), add a varistor (MOV) across the load: 275VAC varistor for 200VAC loads, 440VAC for 400VAC loads. This suppresses voltage spikes from inductive kickback that can damage the SSR.
