The Omron Z-15GW4-B is a general-purpose basic switch in the Z-15 family with the W4 low-force hinge lever actuator and screw terminals. It is rated 15 A at 250 VAC resistive, takes a 0.5 mm contact snap-action, and survives 10 million mechanical operations and 500,000 electrical operations. The hinge lever multiplies cam or dog mechanical advantage, so a small cam lift triggers a clean snap-action. The "W4" code is the low-force hinge lever variant, suited where the cam is light or the trigger stroke is short. Why a hinge lever rather than a pin plunger
A pin plunger takes the full cam force directly on the actuator face, which loads the cam and quickly wears the cam edge. A hinge lever rides on the cam, deflects under the lift, and converts that motion into the snap-action. Cam wear drops, the cam force drops, and the cam profile can be larger. Set the operating position at the rated pretravel rather than running close to the end of stroke.
Before ordering
Mount the switch with M4 screws with plane and spring washers, tightened to 1.18 to 1.47 Nm. Provide a cam with rounded edges so the lever rides onto the profile. Use the AP-B terminal cover on panels with nearby live parts. For inductive AC loads (motor, solenoid) derate to the inductive load rating, not 15 A.

What is the difference between Z-15GW4-B and Z-15GW-B?
Both are 15 A SPDT hinge-lever basic switches with screw terminals and 0.5 mm contact gap. The GW4 is the Low-force hinge lever variant and runs at a lower operating force than the GW (medium-OP standard hinge lever). Pick GW4 when the cam or dog can only supply a light trigger; pick GW for a standard cam with normal trigger force available.
Can the Z-15GW4-B switch DC and AC loads?
Yes. The same switch handles AC and DC up to the rated current at each voltage. AC rating is 15 A at 125 / 250 VAC resistive (1/3 HP at 250 VAC, 1/8 HP at 125 VAC motor). DC rating is 15 A at 8 / 14 VDC, dropping at higher DC voltage. For inductive DC loads, use the inductive load column, not the resistive, and add a contact protection suppressor across the coil.
How do I mount the Z-15GW4-B on a panel?
Mount the body with two M4 screws with plane and spring washers, tightened to 1.18 to 1.47 Nm each. If the switch mounts through a panel and the actuator hex nuts sit on the panel side, tighten those hex nuts to 2.94 to 4.9 Nm. Use the AP-B terminal cover to keep fingers and metal debris off the live terminals. Do not oil or grease the lever pivot.
