Product Overview

The Omron Z-15GW2-B is the hinge roller lever variant in the Z-15-series general-purpose basic switch line. It carries an SPDT (Form C) snap-action contact rated 15 A at 125 / 250 / 480 VAC resistive on a 0.5 mm contact gap (the G code), 0.98 N operating force, and 7.10 mm pretravel / 4.00 mm overtravel. The white nylon roller at the end of the lever slides along a cam or fixed stop without scratching the mating part -- the right pick for a door interlock or a conveyor position detector where a steel lever would mark the part. The screw terminals (the -B suffix) accept ring or fork lugs on a 14-22 AWG wire.

The W2 / W22 hinge roller split

The W2 (long hinge roller lever) and the W22 (short hinge roller lever) are the two roller-equipped actuators in the Z-15 lineup. The W2 has 0.98 N operating force and 7.10 mm pretravel -- the lighter, longer pick for a low-force cam or a slow-moving door. The W22 is shorter and stiffer at 1.71 N operating force -- the pick for a higher-force machine where a short lever can ride a fast-moving cam without over-traveling. Pick Z-15GW-B for a plain hinge lever (no roller) for a fixed-stop door.

The G contact gap

The G in Z-15G is the 0.5 mm contact gap / 15 A standard rating. Pick the H code (0.25 mm contact gap) for a high-sensitivity microload detector. Pick the E code (1.8 mm contact gap) for a high-capacity load. The bare Z-15G without an actuator code is the pin plunger -- the GW, GW2, GW22, GQ, GQ22, GS, GD actuator codes all sit on the same 0.5 mm / 15 A / G base. The Z-01H is the higher-sensitivity 0.25 mm pin-plunger variant in the same 49.2 x 17.45 mm body.

Before ordering

Confirm the cam or stop can supply 0.98 N of force at the roller position. The 7.10 mm pretravel plus 4.00 mm overtravel gives a 11.10 mm total lever travel -- check that the cam profile does not over-travel the actuator past 11 mm or the snap-action may not reset cleanly. Confirm the screw terminal torque is 0.5 to 0.6 N.m on the M3.5 screws. Confirm the panel has two M4 mounting holes on 25.4 mm centres. Pick Z-15GW22-B for a higher-force 1.71 N short hinge roller lever.

Best-Fit Applications

  • Door interlock on a control panel or a machine guard where the nylon roller rides a fixed cam
  • Conveyor position detector for a slow-moving part where 0.98 N of operating force is enough
  • Limit switch on a pneumatic cylinder where the roller rides the end-of-stroke cam
  • Print-mark detector on a packaging line where the roller triggers a high-speed counter
  • Coin / bill validator on a vending machine where a small lever movement signals a detected event
  • General-purpose limit switch for OEM machinery where 15 A at 250 VAC drives a solenoid or contactor coil

Buying Checklist

  • Pick Z-15GW2-B for a hinge roller lever on the standard 15 A / 0.5 mm contact gap Z-15 body with M3.5 screw terminals.
  • Pick Z-15GW-B instead when a plain hinge lever (no roller, no marking) is enough for a fixed-stop door.
  • Pick Z-15GW22-B instead for a short hinge roller lever with 1.71 N operating force on a fast-moving cam.
  • Pick Z-15GQ-B instead for a panel-mount pin plunger in the same Z-15 body with 2.94 N OF and 0.4 mm PT.
  • Pick Z-15GQ22-B instead for a panel-mount roller plunger on a sliding bracket.
  • Confirm the M3.5 screw terminal torque (0.5 to 0.6 N.m) and the 14-22 AWG wire gauge before commissioning.

FAQ for Z-15GW2-B

What is the difference between Z-15GW2-B and Z-15GW22-B?
Both are Z-15-series 15 A SPDT basic switches with a hinge roller lever on M3.5 screw terminals. The Z-15GW2-B is the long hinge roller lever with 0.98 N operating force and 7.10 mm pretravel. The Z-15GW22-B is the short hinge roller lever with 1.71 N operating force and a shorter pretravel. Pick the GW2 for a light-force cam or a slow-moving door. Pick the GW22 for a higher-force machine where a short lever can ride a fast-moving cam without over-traveling past the 4.00 mm overtravel spec.
What is the G / H / E code in the Z-15 model?
The G / H / E / H2 letter in the Z-15G / Z-15H / Z-15E / Z-15H2 model code is the contact gap family. G is 0.5 mm / 15 A standard. H is 0.25 mm high-sensitivity. H2 is 0.20 mm extra-high sensitivity. E is 1.8 mm high-capacity. The G code is the most common pick for a 250 VAC / 15 A general-purpose load. Pick the H code for a microload or a low-force detector below 100 mA. Pick the E code for an inrush load where the larger contact gap handles a wider arc.
What is the difference between the screw terminal (-B) and the solder terminal?
The -B suffix on the Z-15Gxx-B is the M3.5 screw terminal variant. The bare Z-15Gxx (no -B) is the solder terminal variant. The screw terminal accepts a ring or fork lug on a 14-22 AWG wire and is the right pick for a control panel where the wire may need to be disconnected for service. The solder terminal accepts a 20 AWG wire soldered directly to the lug and is the right pick for an OEM machine where the wire is part of the harness and never disconnected.
Can the Z-15GW2-B switch a 250 VAC solenoid or contactor coil?
Yes, at 15 A. The 15 A rating is the non-inductive resistive figure; for a 250 VAC contactor coil (inductive) derate to 1/3 to 1/4 of the rated current, so the practical limit on a 250 VAC coil is 5 A. The Z-15 is rated 1/4 HP at 250 VAC for a motor load, which is about 1.5 A. For a higher-current motor or a heater, use a G2R-2-SND interposing relay (5 A) or a G3NA-210B-UTU solid state relay (10 A) between the Z-15 and the load. For a 24 VDC solenoid, the Z-15's 0.5 A rating is plenty for a 1.5 W solenoid coil.
