Product Overview

The Omron 61F-LS-CP11-NRA is a compact floatless level controller in the 61F-LS series. It monitors liquid level by reading the resistance between stainless-steel electrodes suspended in the tank. When the conductive liquid touches or leaves a probe, the controller switches its 5 A SPDT output relay. There are no moving parts inside the tank, so the controller suits wells, sumps, water-treatment tanks, and boiler-feed systems where mechanical floats would corrode, stick, or collect debris.

The -NRA suffix on the model code decodes as: N = general-purpose controller body (the standard fitment for the 61F-LS compact series), R = relay output, A = AC 100-240 V universal supply. The CP11 portion of the code marks this as the compact-insertion type with 11-pin socket mounting — the smallest of the three 61F-LS body styles.

Unlike the older plug-in 8-pin 61F-G3 (which is a separate relay-on-rail unit), the 61F-LS-CP11-NRA is panel-mounted via an 11-pin round socket and accepts the full set of 61F electrodes. The probe voltage the controller applies to the electrodes is a low 5 V, which avoids any ground-loop or electrolytic corrosion issue on the probe tips and keeps the install safe on potable-water and deionized rinse loops.

Where it fits

Standard applications are water-tank empty/fill control, sump auto-start/stop for a submersible pump, high- and low-level alarm generation, and upper-and-lower level detection in storage tanks. With the G-grade sensitivity (a separate model), the controller can read high-purity water and steam condensate where the plain model would ignore the low conductivity.

What to pair with it

The 61F-LS-CP11-NRA ships as the controller only. Order the electrode holder (PS-31 or F03-05 series for two- or three-probe configurations), the stainless-steel probes or weighted-cable electrodes (F03-14), and the 11-pin panel-mount socket (PF or PA-style). The wire run between the controller and the electrodes should be short and shielded on high-impedance probes to avoid false triggering from induced mains hum.

Before ordering

Confirm the liquid is conductive at about 100 µS / cm or higher — ordinary tap water, condensate, and most industrial process liquids qualify, but oil, fuel, and deionized water below that threshold will not be seen by the electrodes. For those non-conductive media, switch to a float switch, a capacitive proximity sensor, or an ultrasonic level meter. Plan the electrode wiring with at least 30 cm between probe tips so the controller can tell the levels apart cleanly.

Best-Fit Applications

  • Empty / fill control loop on an industrial water storage tank
  • Pump auto-start at low level and auto-stop at high level in a sump
  • Upper and lower level detection in a cooling-tower basin
  • High-purity rinse tank level control where mechanical floats would shed particles
  • Steam-condensate level alarming on a boiler feed receiver
  • Sequencing of dual pumps based on tank level states

Buying Checklist

  • Choose the 61F-LS-CP11-NRA for AC 100-240 V mains supply and 5 A relay output in the compact body.
  • Choose the 61F-LS-CP11-NRD for the same body with DC 24 V supply instead.
  • Choose the 61F-LS-CP11-NRA for AC mains; choose the NRAJ or NRAL if you specifically need S or L sensitivity grade.
  • Order the 11-pin socket, the electrode holder, and the probes separately — the controller ships alone.
  • Confirm the liquid conductivity at the install before ordering — oils, fuels, and deionized water are not readable by this style of electrode.
  • Keep the electrode cable run short and shielded on high-impedance probes to prevent false triggers from induced mains hum.

FAQ for 61F-LS-CP11-NRA

What is the difference between 61F-LS-CP11-NRA and the older 61F-G3?
Both are Omron floatless level controllers in the 61F family, but they differ in form factor and supply. The 61F-G3 is the larger plug-in 8-pin octal-base unit, used with an external octal socket on DIN rail or surface mount, and is typically sold with a specific sensitivity grade (G3 high sensitivity). The 61F-LS-CP11-NRA is the smaller compact panel-mount body on an 11-pin round socket, with AC 100-240 V supply and 5 A SPDT output. Pick the G3 if you want a sensitivity grade or DIN-rail plug-in format; pick the CP11-NRA for compact panel mount and AC universal supply.
What does the model code -NRA mean?
On this 61F-LS-CP11 family: N = general-purpose controller body; R = relay output (instead of transistor); A = AC 100-240 V supply. So the NRA variant is the AC-supply relay-output version of the CP11 family. Other suffixes in the same family include -NRD for DC 24 V supply and -NRAJ / -NRAL for different sensitivity grades.
Can this controller work with non-conductive liquids?
No. The 61F-LS-CP11-NRA works only with conductive liquids at about 100 µS / cm or higher (tap water, wastewater, condensate, dilute acids and bases). For oil, fuel, solvents, or deionized water below the threshold, switch to a mechanical float switch, a capacitive proximity sensor, or an ultrasonic level meter.
Are the electrodes included?
No. The 61F-LS-CP11-NRA ships as the controller unit only. Buy the electrode holder (PS-31 or F03-05 style for two or three probes) and the stainless-steel or weighted-cable probes (F03-14) separately. The matching 11-pin socket for panel mounting is also ordered separately. Plan to bundle these with the controller at order time to avoid a second shipment.
