Product Overview

The Omron D4B-4115N is the stainless-steel-roller safety limit switch in the D4B-N family. The die-cast aluminum body, the 30 million mechanical / 500,000 electrical operations life, and the IP67 sealing put it on the outside of a machine where dust, oil, and water spray would damage a smaller plastic limit switch. The 1NC/1NO snap-action contact with certified direct opening on the NC per EN 60947-5-1 lets the switch contribute to a Cat 1 / PL c interlock when wired single-channel, or a Cat 3 / PL d interlock when wired dual-channel with a second switch and a G9SA / G9SP safety controller. The stainless steel roller suits food-and-beverage, pharmaceutical, and chemical washdown areas.

Why the metal body and stainless roller

Pick the D4B-4115N when the limit switch is on the outside of the machine guard, where it takes mechanical impact, washdown spray, and chemical exposure. The die-cast aluminum body and the M20 conduit are the heavy-duty choices over the plastic D4N-112G. Pick the D4B-4111N instead when a standard resin roller is acceptable; pick the D4B-4116N when the lever position needs to be adjustable on the camshaft.

Single-channel vs dual-channel safety wiring

The D4B-4115N is a single switch with one NC + one NO contact form. For a Cat 1 / PL c interlock, wire the NC contact in series with the contactor coil. For a Cat 3 / PL d interlock, use two D4B-4115N switches (one on each guard door) and a G9SA-301 or G9SP-N20S safety controller. For Cat 4 / PL e, pair dual-channel wiring with a D4SL-N6EFA-DN (6-contact) or use the D4SL safety door switch with a G9SP.

Before ordering

Confirm the conduit is M20 (the "4" code); for a G1/2 / PF1/2 North American cabinet, pick the D4B-2115N. Confirm the actuator is the stainless steel roller (the "5" code); for a standard resin roller, pick the D4B-4111N. Confirm the switch is wired to a safety controller -- the D4B alone with single-channel wiring can only claim Cat 1 / PL c.

Best-Fit Applications

  • Guard door position feedback on a small machine tool with a G9SA-301 safety relay
  • Conveyor limit / end-of-travel stop on a washdown packaging line with stainless roller for chemical resistance
  • Robotic cell perimeter door interlock with two D4B-4115N switches and a G9SP-N20S safety controller
  • Heavy-industry position feedback on a steel-mill or foundry line where plastic limit switches would fail
  • Food-and-beverage line guard interlock with stainless roller and IP67 washdown rating

Buying Checklist

  • Pick D4B-4115N for a 1NC/1NO snap-action safety limit switch with stainless steel roller and M20 conduit in the D4B-N family.
  • Pick D4B-4111N instead when a standard resin roller is acceptable (cheaper, but not for washdown).
  • Pick D4B-2115N when the cabinet has G1/2 / PF1/2 conduit (North American / Japan standard).
  • Pick D4N-112G for a smaller plastic-body safety limit switch when the application is lighter-duty.
  • Pair the D4B-4115N with a G9SA-301 safety relay for a typical Cat 1 / PL c or Cat 3 / PL d interlock circuit.
  • Add a second D4B-4115N for a dual-channel Cat 3 / PL d interlock; the D4B alone with single-channel wiring cannot claim Cat 3 / PL d.

FAQ for D4B-4115N

What is the difference between D4B-4115N and D4B-4111N?
Roller material. The D4B-4115N has a stainless steel roller -- the right pick for food-and-beverage, pharmaceutical, and chemical washdown areas where a standard resin roller would absorb chemicals and swell. The D4B-4111N has a standard resin roller -- the cheaper pick for general industrial use. Both share the same 1NC/1NO snap-action contact, M20 conduit, IP67 housing, 30 million mechanical / 500,000 electrical operations life, and UL / CSA / TUV / CCC approvals. The only difference is the roller material.
What is the difference between D4B-4115N and D4B-2115N?
Conduit thread. The D4B-4115N has M20 conduit (the "4" code in the family table, European / global standard). The D4B-2115N has G1/2 / PF1/2 conduit (the "2" code, North American / Japan standard). Both share the same 1NC/1NO snap-action contact with direct opening, stainless steel roller, IP67 die-cast aluminum body, and the same approvals. Pick the M20 for a European cabinet; pick the G1/2 for a North American cabinet.
Does the D4B-4115N reach Cat 4 / PL e by itself?
No. The D4B-4115N is a single switch with one NC + one NO contact. For Cat 1 / PL c (the lowest safety category), wire the NC contact in series with the contactor coil. For Cat 3 / PL d, use two D4B-4115N switches (one on each guard door) wired dual-channel with a G9SA-301 or G9SP-N20S safety controller. For Cat 4 / PL e, pair the dual-channel wiring with a D4SL-N6EFA-DN (6-contact safety door switch) and a G9SP safety controller. The D4B alone with single-channel wiring cannot claim Cat 3 / PL d.
What is the difference between D4B-4115N and D4N-112G?
Body and capacity. The D4B-4115N is a heavy-duty die-cast aluminum safety limit switch at ~250 g, IP67, 30 million mechanical / 500,000 electrical operations minimum. The D4N-112G is a compact plastic-body safety limit switch at ~82 g, IP67, 15 million mechanical / 500,000 electrical operations minimum. Pick the D4B when the limit switch is on the outside of the machine guard with mechanical impact and washdown; pick the D4N for a lighter-duty cabinet-interior position feedback. Both have 1NC/1NO snap-action with direct opening on the NC.
