The die-cast aluminum body, the 30 million mechanical / 500,000 electrical operations life, and the IP67 sealing put it on the outside of a machine where dust, oil, and water spray would damage a smaller plastic limit switch. The 1NC/1NO snap-action contact with certified direct opening on the NC per EN 60947-5-1 lets the switch contribute to a Cat 1 / PL c interlock when wired single-channel, or a Cat 3 / PL d interlock when wired dual-channel with a second switch and a G9SA / G9SP safety controller.
For Cat 4 / PL e, pair dual-channel wiring with a D4SL-N6EFA-DN (6-contact) or use the D4SL safety door switch with a G9SP.

Roller material. The D4B-4115N has a stainless steel roller -- the right pick for food-and-beverage, pharmaceutical, and chemical washdown areas where a standard resin roller would absorb chemicals and swell. The D4B-4111N has a standard resin roller -- the cheaper pick for general industrial use. Both share the same 1NC/1NO snap-action contact, M20 conduit, IP67 housing, 30 million mechanical / 500,000 electrical operations life, and UL / CSA / TUV / CCC approvals. The only difference is the roller material.
What is the difference between D4B-4115N and D4B-2115N?
Conduit thread. The D4B-4115N has M20 conduit (the "4" code in the family table, European / global standard). The D4B-2115N has G1/2 / PF1/2 conduit (the "2" code, North American / Japan standard). Both share the same 1NC/1NO snap-action contact with direct opening, stainless steel roller, IP67 die-cast aluminum body, and the same approvals. Does the D4B-4115N reach Cat 4 / PL e by itself?
No. The D4B-4115N is a single switch with one NC + one NO contact. For Cat 1 / PL c (the lowest safety category), wire the NC contact in series with the contactor coil.
