Product Overview

The Omron 61F-G3 AC100-220V is a floatless level controller for water and other conductive liquids. It reads the resistance between stainless-steel electrodes suspended in the tank and switches its output relay when the liquid touches or leaves a probe. There are no moving parts in the tank, so the controller suits water treatment, sump monitoring, and high-purity rinse systems where mechanical floats would corrode or collect debris. The unit plugs into an 8-pin octal base, which makes it quick to swap out during service.

What the G3 suffix means

The 61F series comes in four sensitivity grades: G (standard), G1, G2, and G3 (high sensitivity). G3 is the right pick for high-purity water, steam condensate, and other low-conductivity liquids that the standard G model would ignore. For ordinary tap water or wastewater, the G or G2 version is enough.

Choosing the electrodes and base

The 61F-G3 is the controller only. Order a separate electrode holder (PS series, F03-01, or F03-05 style) and the 8-pin surface- or DIN-rail-mounting socket. Two- or three-electrode configurations cover most empty / fill and upper / lower level jobs. Long cable runs between the electrodes and the controller can pick up noise, so keep the cable short and shielded for high-impedance probes.

Before ordering

Confirm the liquid is conductive (≥ 100 µS / cm). The controller will not see oil, deionized water below the rated conductivity, or dry chemicals. Pick the G3 sensitivity if the liquid is high-purity water or steam condensate. Make sure the supply voltage matches the 100-220 VAC range and the socket wiring is correct. Test the installation in air and again with water before relying on the relay.

Best-Fit Applications

  • Fill or drain control loops in industrial water-treatment tanks
  • Sump and reservoir level monitoring in plant utility rooms
  • High-purity water level control in semiconductor rinse systems
  • Steam-condensate level detection in boiler feed or condensate tanks
  • Cooling-tower and storage-tank upper and lower level control

Buying Checklist

  • Choose 61F-G3 for high-purity water, steam condensate, or other low-conductivity liquids.
  • Choose 61F-G or 61F-G2 for ordinary tap water or wastewater instead.
  • Choose an 8-pin octal base (surface or DIN rail) with the controller.
  • Choose the electrode holder and probes separately (PS- or F03-series).
  • Confirm the liquid is conductive at ≥ 100 µS / cm before installing.
  • Check the relay in air and with water during commissioning.

FAQ for 61F-G3 AC100-220V

What is the difference between 61F-G3 and 61F-G?
Both are 61F-series floatless controllers on the same AC 100-220 V supply. The G3 is the high-sensitivity grade for high-purity water, steam condensate, and other low-conductivity liquids. The plain G is the standard grade for ordinary tap water and wastewater. Pick the G3 only when the standard G ignores the liquid.
Does the 61F-G3 work with any liquid?
Only with conductive liquids at about 100 µS / cm or higher. Tap water, wastewater, and most process liquids are fine. Oil, fuels, deionized water, and dry chemicals will not be detected. For non-conductive liquids, use a float switch, a capacitive sensor, or an ultrasonic level sensor instead.
What is included in the box?
The controller module only. The 8-pin octal base, the electrode holder, and the stainless-steel probes are sold separately. Common pairings are the PF113A or similar octal base and the PS-31 or F03-05 electrode holder. Order them together with the controller to avoid a second shipment.
