Product Overview

The Omron CJ1W-DA041 is a 4-channel analog output unit for the CJ-series PLC rack, used with CJ1, CJ1M, CJ2, and NJ-series CPUs that accept CJ1W expansion. Each output has its own range, settable individually from 1-5 V, 0-5 V, 0-10 V, -10 to +10 V, or 4-20 mA. Resolution is 1/4000 and conversion runs at 1 ms per point. Voltage outputs hold plus or minus 0.3 % of full scale; current outputs plus or minus 0.5 %. The unit fits any CJ1W slot, draws 120 mA from the 5 V rack supply, and lands on a detachable terminal block. It is the right pick for closed-loop control of proportional valves, variable-speed drives with a 4-20 mA reference, and heater controllers.

Why 4 channels at 1/4000

The CJ1W-DA041 is the workhorse analog output for the CJ line: four channels, voltage or current per channel, fast enough for most valve and drive setpoint work. For higher resolution, the CJ1W-DA08V moves to 1/8000 across 8 voltage outputs. For current only, the CJ1W-DA08C covers 8 current outputs. For very high-speed motion, the CJ1W-DA042V offers 20 microsecond conversion at 1/40000.

Output hold and scaling

When the CPU stops or the output enable bit is off, the CJ1W-DA041 holds the last value (HOLD) by default, with CLR and MAX also available. Each channel has its own offset and gain adjustment for trimming the loop in commissioning. Scaling from engineering units (psi, deg C, %) to the binary word in the CPU memory is handled in the ladder program.

Before ordering

Confirm the rack has a free slot to the right of the CPU. The DA041 draws 120 mA from the 5 VDC rack supply. Pair it with the CJ1W-AD081-V1 when you need both analog input and output on the same rack. Use shielded twisted-pair cable for the analog runs and ground the shield at the panel end only.

FAQ for CJ1W-DA041

What happens to the analog outputs when the CPU stops?
By default, each output holds its last value (HOLD). The CJ1W-DA041 also supports CLR (output to 0 V or 0 mA) and MAX (output to full scale) as selectable behaviours. The mode is set per channel in the CPU memory and is useful for fail-safe valve positioning on a PLC fault.
Can I mix voltage and current outputs on the CJ1W-DA041?
Yes. Each of the four outputs has its own signal range setting in the CPU memory, so you can run two outputs at 4-20 mA and two at 0-10 V on the same module. Wiring differs per channel but the scaling is independent.
Is the CJ1W-DA041 compatible with a CJ2 CPU?
Yes. CJ1W I/O modules are supported on CJ1, CJ1M, CJ2, and NJ-series racks (with CJ1W adapter). The DA041 is registered as a special I/O unit in CX-Programmer or Sysmac Studio, and the binary output word is updated each PLC scan just like any CJ1W slice.
