Product Overview
The Omron E2E-X8B1D18-M1 is a shielded inductive proximity sensor in the E2E NEXT series, in an M18 stainless / brass barrel with an M12 4-pin connector. It detects ferrous metal targets at 8 mm with a PNP normally-open output, dropping straight into any PLC input card that expects a sourcing sensor. The 'X8' in the model code is the 8 mm sensing distance, 'B1' is PNP NO, 'D18' is the M18 thread, and 'M1' is the M12 4-pin pigtail connector. It runs on 10-30 VDC, switches in 0.5 ms, and is rated IP67 for washdown panels. It is the standard pick for end-of-stroke, part-present, and index-table detection on metal parts at short range.

The E2E NEXT line splits by size and range. The M8 E2E-X2D1-M1 covers 2 mm, the M12 E2E-X4B1D12-M1 covers 4 mm, and the M18 E2E-X8B1D18-M1 covers 8 mm. Before ordering
Confirm the panel supply: shielded inductive sensors need a stable 24 VDC rail. Plan a free zone of 1.5 x the sensing distance around the active face to avoid mutual interference between adjacent sensors. Pair the sensor with an XS2F-M12 / M12-4A patch cord in the right length; pin 1 is +V, pin 3 is 0 V, pin 4 is the PNP output. For NPN or NC outputs, choose the E2E-X8C1D18-M1 (NPN NO) or E2E-X8B2D18-M1 (PNP NC).
