What is the difference between E2EC-C1R5D1 and E2E-X8MD1?
The E2EC-C1R5D1 is a sub-miniature inductive sensor with a 5.4 mm head and a separate inline amplifier on a 0.4 m cable. The E2E-X8MD1 is a standard M12 inductive sensor with 8 mm sensing distance and the amplifier built into the barrel. Pick E2EC for tight mounting below 8 mm; pick E2E for anywhere an M12 body fits.
Can the E2EC-C1R5D1 detect non-metal targets?
No. E2EC sensors are inductive and only respond to ferrous metals. They will also detect non-ferrous metals like aluminum, copper, or stainless steel at a reduced sensing distance (the standard 1/3 correction factor applies). For plastic, wood, glass, or liquid level sensing, move to the E2K capacitive proximity family.
Does this sensor need a separate controller or amplifier?
No external controller is needed. The amplifier circuit is integrated into the cable a short distance from the head, so the sensing head + amplifier + 2 m cable act as one unit. Wire the amplifier side directly to a 12-24 VDC supply and the two-wire output to the PLC input.
