Product Overview
The Omron E2K-X15ME1 is an M30 threaded capacitive proximity sensor with a 15 mm sensing range, manufactured by Omron Corporation. Hengyixin Automation ships this sensor from our Xiamen warehouse with a 30-day DOA return window and a datasheet PDF included in the box.
A capacitive sensor sees more than metal. This one picks up water, oil, glass, plastic and cardboard as well as conductors, so it suits level checks through a tank wall or confirming a plastic part is in the nest. The 15 mm range is fixed, with no sensitivity dial to set. Output is NPN normally open, up to 200 mA, from a 12 to 24 VDC supply on a 2 m cable.
The ABS barrel is unshielded and rated IP66, so leave the area around the sensing face clear of metal. Response is 100 Hz, fine for parts counting but not high-speed indexing. If the target is always metal, an inductive sensor such as the E2E-X8MD1 is cheaper and less fussy about its surroundings.

Body size and range. The E2K-X15ME1 is an M30 barrel with a 15 mm range; the E2K-X8ME1 is M18 with 8 mm. Both are NPN normally open on a 2 m cable. Pick by the mounting hole you have and the gap you need to cover.
What is the maximum sensing distance of the E2K-X15ME1?
15 mm ±10% against Omron's standard target. Omron gives a recommended set distance of 0 to 10 mm, so mount the target inside 10 mm for a stable signal rather than out at the 15 mm limit.
Can the E2K-X15ME1 be mounted in a metal bracket?
Yes, but it is unshielded, so surrounding metal shifts the switching point. Keep the area around and in front of the sensing face clear and re-check the switch point after mounting. A shielded inductive sensor is the better pick if it has to sit flush in steel.
Does the E2K-X15ME1 need a sensitivity adjustment?
No. The 15 mm range is fixed and there is no pot or teach button. Wire the three leads on the 2 m cable, set the target within 10 mm, and it works.
