Product Overview
The Omron E3ZM-R81 is a compact stainless steel retro-reflective photoelectric sensor with MSR function, manufactured by Omron Corporation. Hengyixin Automation ships this sensor from our Xiamen warehouse with a 30-day DOA return window and a datasheet PDF included in the box.
Sensing distance is 4 m with the E39-R1S reflector and 100 mm minimum between sensor and reflector. The light source is a polarized red LED at 660 nm so the sensor ignores light reflected off shiny surfaces. Output is PNP open-collector, Light-ON or Dark-ON selectable by switch, 100 mA max load. Response time is 1 ms.

FAQ for E3ZM-R81
Does the E3ZM-R81 need a reflector?
Yes. Retro-reflective sensors read light bounced back from a reflector, not from the target. The matching reflector for 4 m range is the E39-R1S (40 x 60 x 7.5 mm); the smaller E39-R3 fits tighter mounts.
Can the E3ZM-R81 ignore reflections from shiny surfaces?
Yes. The MSR function uses a polarized red LED and a matched polarizer in the receiver, so light bouncing off a shiny PET bottle or a stainless panel is rejected. The target still needs to break the beam to the reflector.
What is the minimum object size for the E3ZM-R81?
75 mm diameter opaque object. Smaller targets may not break the beam cleanly, especially at the far end of the 4 m range. Test on the actual line before committing.
