The Omron WLCA12-LD-N is a general-purpose limit switch in the WL-N family, with two SPDT contacts (a 2-circuit double-break switch), a side-rotary adjustable roller lever, and an operation LED on the housing. The die-cast aluminium body and oil-resistant seals give it an IP67 rating, so it fits washdown and outdoor panels. The '12' in WLCA12 marks the standard sensitivity, 'LD' marks the LED operation indicator, and 'N' marks the standard (vs high-sensitivity or high-precision) sensitivity class. The roller lever can be indexed in four positions around the shaft and the length is adjustable, so one switch covers a wide range of cam and dog actuations.
Why two circuits
Most limit switches in the WL-N family carry two independent SPDT contacts, wired through the same terminal block. That gives a safety-style redundancy where one contact runs the machine stop and the other feeds back to the PLC, or one contact drives the load and the other runs an indicator. For a single-circuit switch with the same lever, look at the WL-N base model WLCA12-N (no LED).
Choosing the right WLCA12 variant
WLCA12-LD-N has the LED indicator and a 24-240 VAC or 10-125 VDC indicator voltage range. The WLCA12-2N-N is the same switch on a different terminal pattern without the LED. For a top plunger, look at the WLCA12-TH-N, which uses the same WL-N body but with a vertical plunger actuator instead of the rotary lever. For a more compact DIN-style limit switch, the D4N-112G is a common alternative.
Before ordering
Confirm the cam or dog actuates the lever from the right side so the roller faces the moving part. Allow at least 70 degrees of overtravel past the operating position so the lever is not jammed against the end of its travel. Match the LED indicator voltage to the actual panel supply (24 VDC vs 200 VAC) before wiring.
