FAQ for CJ1W-ID262
Is the CJ1W-ID262 NPN (sinking) or PNP (sourcing)?
Neither, and both. The ID262 is polarity-free -- the field power can be wired in either direction, so NPN (sinking) and PNP (sourcing) sensors both work on the same module without DIP switches. Wire each sensor's +V and 0V to the matching COM terminal regardless of which side of the field supply that sensor shares. This is the same flexibility the CJ1W-ID261 and CJ1W-ID232 carry -- the older dedicated NPN-only units (ID211 / ID231) require NPN wiring and a fixed polarity.
How many sensors can be on at the same time?
Up to 32 of the 64 inputs simultaneously ON at 24 VDC (8 of 16 per common). This is a thermal limit on the connector pin density and the internal PCB trace heating, not a limit on the input chips. For a panel with >32 sensors active at steady state, split into two ID262 modules on separate commons or step down to the 32-point ID231 / ID232 modules so each commons stays at 8 / 16 ON. For higher active counts use the ID261 / ID232 family instead -- the thermal envelope is the same.
How fast is the CJ1W-ID262?
8.0 ms ON and 8.0 ms OFF by default. The PLC Setup in CX-Programmer can switch any CJ1W input module to a 0 to 32 ms selection, but the bare minimum (0 ms) actually settles to 120 us ON and 400 us OFF because of internal element delays. The ID262 is the typical pick for status and sensor inputs. For sub-millisecond response pick the CJ1W-ID212 at 15 us ON / 100 us OFF or the CJ1W-IDP01 high-speed interrupt unit (with interrupt task in the CPU).
What MIL connector goes on the ID262?
Two FCN-360C040-J2 / OTAX N360C040J2 40-pin MIL connectors (one for CN1 and one for CN2) sit on the front face of the ID262. These are the same connectors used by the CJ1W-ID261, CJ1W-OD261, CJ1W-OD262 and the ID231 / ID232 siblings. Pre-wire the field with the XG4M-4030 / XG5M-N1632 cable family or solder a C500-CE404 40-pin right-angle connector kit for a custom harness.
