Product Overview
The Omron CJ1W-ID262 is the CJ-series 64-point DC24V digital input unit with two MIL connectors on the front face. Pick the ID262 when a CJ1 / CJ2 / NJ panel needs a high-density 24 V input module without sacrificing the easy-to-wire MIL connector. It draws 4.1 mA per point at 24 VDC (which is the typical ON-state current for most 3-wire PNP sensors, prox switches, and panel-mounted pushbuttons), and runs on 90 mA from the 5 VDC CJ backplane.
Polarity-free input
The ID262 is polarity-free -- input power can be wired in either direction. Most CJ1W input units require NPN (sinking) sensors; the ID262 (along with the ID261) is the common-denominator pick when a panel mixes NPN and PNP sensors on the same input module without DIP switches. Wire each sensor's +V and 0V to the matching COM terminal regardless of polarity. The same spec applies to the matching 32-point ID231 and ID232 in the family.
4 commons, 50% simultaneously ON
The 64 inputs split into 4 commons of 16 points each. At 24 VDC, the ID262 spec is 50% of points simultaneously ON (8 of 16 per common, 32 of 64 total) -- this is a thermal limit on the connector pin density, not a spec on the input chips. For a panel with 64 active sensors, pick a second ID262 or step down to the 32-point ID231 / ID232 to keep the simultaneously-ON count inside the envelope.
Response time and PLC setup
ON / OFF response is 8.0 ms by default; the PLC Setup can switch any input unit to a 0-32 ms selection in CX-Programmer. The bare minimum (0 ms) reduces to 120 us ON / 400 us OFF because of internal element delays. Pick a faster input -- the ID212 at 15 us or the IDP01 high-speed interrupt unit -- when a build needs sub-millisecond response on more than a handful of points.
Key Features
- CJ-series 64-point DC24V digital input unit with two MIL connectors on the front face
- Two FCN-360C040-compatible 40-pin MIL connectors (CN1 + CN2), 16 inputs per side per common
- Polarity-free input design -- both NPN (sinking) and PNP (sourcing) sensors work without DIP switches
- 4.1 mA per point at 24 VDC, 5.6 kOhm input impedance
- ON voltage 19.0 VDC min / OFF voltage 5.0 VDC max -- stable threshold across the typical 24 V supply band
- 4 commons of 16 points each (16 + 16 + 16 + 16) for grouped field wiring
- 50% of points simultaneously ON at 24 VDC (8 of 16 per common, thermal density limit on the connector)
- 8.0 ms ON / OFF response default; selectable 0 to 32 ms in the CX-Programmer PLC Setup
- Bare minimum (0 ms) settles to 120 us ON / 400 us OFF because of internal element delays
- 5 VDC 90 mA from the CJ backplane -- no external supply
- 110 g, 20 MOhm insulation, 1,000 VAC dielectric strength
- 2-wire sensor support with bleeder-resistance note for sensors at 5 mA minimum load current and above
- UC1 / N / L / CE approvals; MADE IN JAPAN
- SKU: CJ1W-ID262
- Series: CJ-series CJ1W ID/IA Input Unit family
- Voltage: 24 VDC
- I/O: 24 I/O
Best-Fit Applications
- 64-point DC input module for a CJ1 / CJ2 / NJ panel that wires bulk sensors through pre-made MIL cables from a remote junction box
- Mix NPN and PNP sensors on the same module -- the ID262 polarity-free design accepts either wiring without DIP switches
- Use the 50% simultaneously-ON envelope for steady-state panels (e.g. conveyor status, light stacks, pushbuttons), step down to ID231 / ID232 for >50% active inputs
- Pick this when the 32-point ID232 is not enough points but the spare slot is on the deep CJ rack -- the ID262 keeps a 64-point density without sacrificing the MIL connector footprint
- Add a fast IDP01 high-speed interrupt unit or the CJ1W-ID212 15 us input alongside the ID262 when a few points need sub-millisecond response
Buying Checklist
- Pick CJ1W-ID262 for a 64-point DC24V input module with two MIL connectors and polarity-free wiring at 90 mA 5 VDC.
- Pick CJ1W-ID261 instead for the same form factor with the older dedicated NPN (sinking) wiring style (the ID262 supersedes for new builds).
- Pick CJ1W-OD262 instead for the matching 64-point PNP (sourcing) OUTPUT unit (the OD26x family for outputs).
- Pick CJ1W-ID232 instead for a 32-point DC input on a single MIL connector when a 64-point module is too dense.
- Pick CJ1W-IDP01 or CJ1W-ID212 instead when sub-millisecond interrupt response is needed -- the ID262 is a 8 ms default.
- Confirm 50% simultaneously-ON envelope -- a 64-point panel with all sensors active most of the time needs a second ID262 to stay within the thermal limit.
