Product Overview

The Omron CJ1W-PD022 is the slim 27 mm 24 VDC power supply unit for the CJ-series PLC rack. It takes a 21.6-26.4 VDC input at 35 W max and produces 2.0 A at 5 VDC for the CJ backplane plus a 0.4 A at 24 VDC service supply (16.6 W combined max) for a relay row or a sensor rail. The 24 VDC service rail is not isolated from the backplane, so the same 24 VDC that feeds the PD022 also feeds the I/O service terminal. Pick the CJ1W-PD022 for a small CJ1 / CJ1M / CJ2 panel where 2 A at 5 VDC is enough for the CPU.

Slim 27 mm vs 60 mm body

The PD022 is the slim pick in the CJ1W-PD family. Pick the CJ1W-PD025 instead when 5.0 A at 5 VDC and 0.8 A at 24 VDC (25 W combined) is needed for a deeper rack with several CJ1W-ID / OD / AD cards -- the PD025 is on a 60 mm body. Pick the CJ1W-PA202 (14 W AC, 45 mm) for a smaller AC cabinet, or the CJ1W-PA205R (25 W AC, 80 mm, with a SPST-NO RUN contact) for a 5 A AC supply with an external RUN indicator.

The 24 VDC service supply

The 0.4 A at 24 VDC output is enough for an 8 to 16-point relay row or a short sensor rail but the service rail is NOT isolated from the backplane. The same 24 VDC source that feeds the PD022's input terminals is on the 24 VDC service rail. Pick the PD025 if isolation matters -- the PD025 also widens the operating range to 19.2-28.8 VDC and bumps the 5 VDC output to 5.0 A.

Before ordering

Confirm the cabinet has a clean 24 VDC source on a DIN-rail PSU (the S8VK-C06024 / S8VK-C12024 are the typical picks). The PD022 expects 21.6-26.4 VDC at the input -- a sag below 21.6 VDC will trigger a brown-out. Confirm the rack has a PD022 (27 mm) or PD025 (60 mm) slot free at the leftmost position. For a like-for-like spare on a CQM1-PA203 panel, the PD022 is the modern CJ-series replacement.

Key Features

  • CJ-series slim 24 VDC power supply unit for the CJ1 / CJ1M / CJ2 CPU rack
  • 24 VDC nominal input, 21.6-26.4 VDC operating range, 35 W max consumption
  • 2.0 A at 5 VDC backplane output for the CPU and I/O
  • 0.4 A at 24 VDC service supply (16.6 W combined max, no isolation on the service rail)
  • 27 mm slim body -- saves one rack slot vs the 60 mm PD025
  • Mounts in the leftmost slot of a CJ-series CPU rack or a CJ1W-IC101 I/O control unit
  • 81.6 H x 90 D x 27 W mm at ~150 g, DIN-rail mount
  • UL 508 / CSA / cUL / CE approved, no fan, no maintenance display
  • Pick the PD022 for a small CJ1M / CJ2 panel with 2 A or less of 5 VDC draw
  • Distinguishing feature vs the PD025: 27 mm width and 2.0 A at 5 VDC (PD025 is 60 mm, 5.0 A at 5 VDC)
  • SKU: CJ1W-PD022
  • Series: CJ-series Power Supply Unit (PD family, 24 VDC input)
  • Voltage: 24 VDC
  • I/O: 24 I/O

Best-Fit Applications

  • Small CJ1M-CPU12 / CPU13 panel with 8-16 I/O points where 2 A at 5 VDC is enough
  • CJ2M-CPU11 / CPU12 / CPU13 slim build where the rack only needs a 27 mm PSU slot
  • Battery-backed cabinet where the 24 VDC input is on a Phoenix Contact or S8VK-C12024 DIN-rail PSU
  • Existing CJ1M control panel where the original PSU is EOL and a like-for-like spare is the PD022
  • OEM skid with a 24 VDC distribution bus that feeds the PD022 directly without a separate AC-DC stage

Buying Checklist

  • Pick CJ1W-PD022 for a slim 27 mm 24 VDC PSU with 2.0 A at 5 VDC and 0.4 A at 24 VDC service.
  • Pick CJ1W-PD025 instead when 5.0 A at 5 VDC and 0.8 A at 24 VDC (25 W) is needed for a deeper rack.
  • Pick CJ1W-PA202 instead for an AC-input 14 W PSU (45 mm body, 2.8 A at 5 VDC, 0.4 A at 24 VDC).
  • Pick CJ1W-PA205R instead for an AC-input 25 W PSU with a SPST-NO RUN contact (80 mm body, 5.0 A at 5 VDC).
  • Pick the S8VK-C06024 or S8VK-C12024 to feed the PD022 from a 100-240 VAC source (a clean DIN-rail 24 VDC bus).
  • Confirm the 24 VDC source can deliver 35 W (about 1.5 A at 24 VDC at full 5 VDC / 24 VDC service load).

FAQ for CJ1W-PD022

What is the difference between CJ1W-PD022 and CJ1W-PD025?
Both are 24 VDC input CJ-series PSUs. The PD022 is the slim 27 mm body with 2.0 A at 5 VDC and 0.4 A at 24 VDC (16.6 W combined max). The PD025 is the wider 60 mm body with 5.0 A at 5 VDC and 0.8 A at 24 VDC (25 W combined max) and a wider 19.2-28.8 VDC operating range. Pick the PD022 for a small CJ1M / CJ2 panel with a few I/O cards; pick the PD025 for a deeper CJ2 / CJ1H rack with many ID / OD / AD cards or a CJ1W-NC213 position control unit on the backplane.
Is the 24 VDC service supply on the PD022 isolated?
No. The CJ1W-PD022 service rail shares the same 24 VDC return as the input supply. The same 24 VDC source that feeds the PD022 input terminals is on the service rail. The PD025 has the same non-isolated service rail. For a fully isolated 24 VDC service rail, use a separate S8VK-C06024 or S8VK-C12024 DIN-rail PSU rather than the service output of the CJ1W-PD.
Can the CJ1W-PD022 replace an older CQM1-PA203 24 VDC PSU?
Yes, with the right backplane. The CQM1-PA203 is the CQM1-series 24 VDC PSU. The CJ1W-PD022 is the CJ-series 24 VDC PSU and uses the CJ-series backplane, not the CQM1 backplane. The PD022 is the modern replacement when migrating a CQM1 panel to a CJ1 / CJ1M / CJ2 panel. The electrical output (24 VDC input, 5 VDC + 24 VDC service) is similar but the connector and mounting are CJ-series only.
Does the CJ1W-PD022 have a RUN output contact?
No. The bare CJ1W-PD022 has no RUN contact and no maintenance forecast display. Pick the CJ1W-PA205R for a 25 W AC supply with a SPST-NO RUN contact (250 VAC 2 A resistive), or the CJ1W-PA205C for a 25 W AC supply with a maintenance forecast display. The PD022 is the budget DC-input pick for a small CJ rack where the RUN status is read from the CPU's own status LED or from a CJ1W-IC101 I/O control unit.
