Product Overview
The CJ1W-PD025 is the DC-input version of the CJ1 power supply family. The 'PD' prefix identifies DC input (24V); the 'PA' prefix is AC input (100-240V). The 025 suffix is the 25W output class; the smaller PD022 is 14W. For DC-only installations (battery banks, solar systems, DC bus industrial environments, vehicle and marine applications), the PD025 is the standard pick. The PD025 sits in the leftmost slot of the CJ1 rack and provides: - 5V DC at 5.0A to the CPU Unit and the backplane for I/O and communication units - 24V DC at 0.8A as 'service power supply' for sinking-input I/O terminals - Total output: 25W The 5V rail powers everything in the rack. The 24V service power is a convenience supply for I/O that needs 24V at the terminals (sourcing outputs, sensor excitation, 24V input relay coils). For most CJ1 systems, the 0.8A is enough to power the I/O sourcing circuits; for heavy 24V loads, use an external 24V supply. On the input side, the PD025 accepts 24V DC at 21.6-26.4V operating range. Inrush current is 30A for 20ms at cold start — this is the most important number for selection. Most industrial 24V supplies can handle 30A inrush, but if you're running the PD025 from a small battery or current-limited DC source, you may need a soft-start precharge circuit. The 24V supply must be regulated — connecting to a 24V battery with no regulation can cause undervoltage faults during motor load transients. For new installations, check whether the AC version (PA205R) is acceptable — most industrial sites have 100-240V AC available, and the PA205R is the more popular and widely stocked part. The PD025 is specifically for DC-only systems. Compared to the smaller PD022 (14W), the PD025 supports a larger rack with more I/O and communication units. Most CJ1 systems with 1 CPU + 3-5 I/O units + 1 communication unit can run on PD025. For very large CJ1 racks (CPU + 8+ units), consider the PA205R (AC, 25W with same output but unlimited AC current) for headroom.
