What is the difference between CJ1W-SCU32 and CJ1W-SCU31-V1?
SCU32 is on the SCU@2 high-speed family (up to 230.4 kbps, RS-422A / RS-485 cable run to 1,200 m). SCU31-V1 is on the SCU-V1 standard-speed family (up to 38.4 kbps, RS-422A / RS-485 cable run to 500 m). Both carry two RS-422A / RS-485 ports. Pick SCU32 for new high-speed builds; pick SCU31-V1 as a like-for-like spare on an existing standard-speed panel.
Does the CJ1W-SCU32 have any RS-232C ports?
No. The SCU32 carries two RS-422A / RS-485 ports on 5-pin terminal blocks. If the cabinet needs RS-232C, pick the CJ1W-SCU22 (two RS-232C at 230.4 kbps SCU@2) or the CJ1W-SCU42 (one RS-232C + one RS-422A / RS-485 mixed-port SCU@2).
Is the CJ1W-SCU32 hot-swappable?
No. CJ-series SCUs are not hot-swappable. Power the rack down before inserting or removing an SCU32. (CS1D duplex modules and SRT2-series SmartSlice I/O blocks support hot-swap; the CJ1W-SCU32 does not.)
Can the CJ1W-SCU32 act as a Modbus-RTU master?
No. The SCU32 lists Modbus-RTU SLAVE in the per-port protocol menu. Use the SCU as a slave and let the CJ CPU scan it via serial gateway, or use a dedicated master module if the field device is a slave that the PLC needs to poll on its own.
