What network does the CRT1-OD16 use?
CompoNet. The CRT1-OD16 is a CompoNet slave and needs a CompoNet master on the host PLC. Common masters are the CS1W-CRM21 on a CS1 PLC, the CJ1W-CRM21 on a CJ-series PLC, and the built-in CompoNet port on some CP1H CPUs.
Is the CRT1-OD16 still in production?
The CRT1 family is on Omron's gradual end-of-life list. The CRT1-OD16 is still orderable today but lead times may grow. For new builds, prefer the DRT2-OD16-1 on DeviceNet or the NX-OD4256 and NX-OD5256 NX-series slices over EtherCAT instead of new CompoNet.
What is the maximum output current per point?
0.5 A per output, 4 A per common. Outputs are NPN open-collector transistors without internal short-circuit protection, so fit an external fuse on each output when driving an inductive DC load like a solenoid or a brake coil on the field side.
How is the CompoNet node address set?
Two rotary dials on the front, marked X1 (tens) and X10 (ones). Word mode covers 0 to 63; multi-drop mode covers 0 to 7. The dials are read at power-on only, so cycle power after any dial change and verify the address on the master configuration.
