Product Overview

The Omron NJ-PA3001 is the AC-input power supply for the NJ/DX-series machine controllers. It accepts a single-phase 100-240 VAC feed and delivers 5 VDC at 6.0 A and 24 VDC at 1.0 A, for 30 W total. The unit sits in the supply slot of the CPU rack and provides the bus power the controller and the I/O units need. It also includes a RUN output contact that closes while the CPU is in RUN status, and a green PWR LED for local status.

Why it is the first choice for NJ panels

The NJ-PA3001 is the supply Omron ships against the NJ CPU for cabinets fed from 100-240 VAC. It is compatible with NJ-series CPU racks and expansion racks, and it also powers the DX-series CPU rack. Choose the PD3001 instead only when the cabinet already has a regulated 24 VDC rail and you want to skip the AC step.

Pick AC or DC input

Both NJ-PA3001 and NJ-PD3001 share the same 5 VDC and 24 VDC outputs to the rack, so they are interchangeable from the I/O side. The decision is the cabinet feed. Use NJ-PA3001 with single-phase AC, and NJ-PD3001 with 24 VDC. Allow at least 120 VA on the AC feed and size the upstream 24 V supply for 60 W when the PD version is used.

Before ordering

Add the 5 VDC and 24 VDC current for every I/O unit planned on the rack, and confirm the totals stay within 6 A and 1 A. Check the wire and breaker ratings for the measured supply voltage, especially at 85 VAC low-line. Leave space around the vented housing and follow the temperature and derating notes in the datasheet.

Best-Fit Applications

  • Main supply for NJ-series CPU racks in AC-fed control cabinets
  • Power source for NJ/DX-series controller racks in AC-fed cabinets
  • Replacement supply for failed NJ-PA3001 modules in installed panels
  • Control power for packaging, material-handling, and assembly machines
  • New NJ builds that will use CJ-series expansion racks

Buying Checklist

  • Confirm the cabinet feed is single-phase AC within 100-240 VAC.
  • Check the planned 5 VDC and 24 VDC loads against 6 A and 1 A limits.
  • Choose NJ-PD3001 instead when the cabinet has a regulated 24 VDC rail.
  • Confirm the RUN output wiring before energising the controller.
  • Check upstream protection supports the 120 VA inrush at low-line voltage.
  • Allow for airflow space around the vented housing and derate for high temperature.

FAQ for NJ-PA3001

What is the difference between NJ-PA3001 and NJ-PD3001?
The two are the same 30 W supply for NJ/DX racks but with different inputs. NJ-PA3001 accepts 100-240 VAC at 120 VA; NJ-PD3001 accepts 24 VDC at 60 W. Both deliver 5 VDC at 6 A and 24 VDC at 1 A to the rack. Choose by the cabinet feed rather than by the I/O load.
Can NJ-PA3001 also power CJ-series expansion racks?
Yes. When the NJ CPU rack already has an NJ-PA3001, an NJ expansion rack can use the same supply to keep one feed for the whole controller. Confirm the CJ-series expansion rack uses the matching I/O control and interface units listed in the NJ manuals.
Does the NJ-PA3001 have a remote alarm output?
It has a RUN output that closes while the CPU is in RUN status. It is not a low-voltage or maintenance alarm, and there is no maintenance-forecast display on this model. Wire it to a status light, an interlock, or a higher-level PLC input that needs to know the CPU is running.
