E3FA-DP12 is a 300 mm PNP sensor with a pre-wired 2 m PVC cable. E3FA-DP13 is a 1 m PNP sensor with a pre-wired 2 m cable. They are at different ranges in the same E3FA family. Pick DP12 for shorter reach and direct panel wiring; pick DP13 for the longer 1 m range and an M12 patch cord.
Is the E3FA-DP13 NPN or PNP?
The E3FA-DP13 is PNP. The 'P' in DP marks PNP, and the 'D' marks diffuse. For the NPN version of a similar M12 diffuse sensor, look at the E3FA-DN twin in the same M12 connector family. Pick the part that matches the input polarity of the target PLC.
Can the E3FA-DP13 detect a black or shiny target?
Yes, with a derating. The 1 m range spec is on white paper. Black rubber or matte surfaces typically read at 50-70% of that, so plan the mounting distance at 500-700 mm. Shiny or mirror-like targets can read erratically; for those, use the BGS E3Z-LL or a polarised retro-reflective sensor instead.
