The optical cutoff focuses the receiver on a fixed depth band, so the sensor sees a small part at the set distance and ignores a fixed background further away. Is the E3T-FL22 a fiber-optic sensor?
No. The E3T-FL22 is a self-contained BGS-reflective photoelectric sensor with the emitter, receiver, amplifier, and output transistor built into one flat head. The E32 fiber-optic cable family is the accessory for the E3X-NA / E3X-SD / E3X-HD amplifier line, NOT for the E3T. The E3T-FL22 does not need an external amplifier and does not accept E32 fiber cables -- it is a complete sensor in one housing with a pre-wired 2 m lead.
What is the difference between E3T-FL22 and E3T-FD11?
Sensing method. The FL22 is BGS-reflective with a focused 1-30 mm beam that ignores a fixed background further away. The FD11 is diffuse-reflective over a wider 5-30 mm range that sees any object in the working band, with no background rejection. Pick the FL22 when the target is small and the background is a fixed surface; pick the FD11 when the target is larger or the application tolerates colour and surface sensitivity. Both have the same flat side-view body and the same 1 ms response.
What does Dark-ON mean on the E3T-FL22?
Output logic. Dark-ON means the NPN output is ON (current sinking to common) when the receiver does not see the focused reflection -- i.e. when the target is absent or outside the 1-30 mm focused band. Pick the FL22 (Dark-ON) for a "part absent = alarm" signal that triggers a feeder-empty shutoff or a missing-part reject. Pick the FL11 (Light-ON) instead for the more common "part present = run" signal that the PLC interprets as run-permitted.
Can the E3T-FL22 be mounted with M3 screws?
No. The E3T-FL22 ships with two M2 mounting screws for the flat side-view body. The M3-mount variant is the E3T-FL12M (Dark-ON, NPN, M3 mount) or E3T-FL14M (Dark-ON, PNP, M3 mount). The M3 body is a different head shape with M3 threaded bushings on the side. The electrical specs (range, output, response, supply) are the same; only the body shape and mounting thread change.
