Product Overview

The Omron E3T-FL22 is the side-view flat BGS-reflective sensor in the E3T ultra-thin family. The optical cutoff focuses the receiver on a fixed depth band, so the sensor sees a small part at the set distance and ignores a fixed background further away. The 1-30 mm range is short -- this is a presence sensor for a chip on a tape reel, a connector pin in a test fixture, a syringe in a nest, or a label edge on a small package, not a long-distance detector. The M2 mounting screws ship in the box.

When the BGS cutoff helps

Pick the FL22 (BGS-reflective) when the target is small and the background is a fixed surface a few cm behind it -- the BGS cutoff rejects the background, so colour and reflectivity differences do not cause false triggers. Pick the E3T-FD11 (diffuse-reflective) when the target is larger or the application can tolerate a wider detection window; the diffuse sensor sees any object at any distance inside its range.

Dark-ON vs Light-ON

The FL22 is Dark-ON -- the output is ON when no light is reflected, i.e. when the target is absent. This is the right pick for a feeder-empty alarm, a part-counting subtract, or a missing-part reject. Pick the FL11 (Light-ON) instead when the output should be ON when the part is present -- the more common "part present = run" signal.

Before ordering

The FL22 is a complete sensor -- no amplifier and no E32 fiber-optic cable is required. The E32 family is the accessory for the E3X-NA / SD / HD amplifier line, not for the E3T. For PNP sourcing, pick the E3T-FL13 / FL14. For a 1 m through-beam pair in the same E3T line, pick the E3T-ST11 2M. For an M18 threaded diffuse sensor with 1 m range, pick the E3Z-D61.
