E3X-HD41 is the newer 'high-functionality' digital-amplifier with twin 7-segment display and smart tuning; E3X-NA41 is the older 'advanced' amplifier with single-display and trimmer adjustment. The HD41 has finer threshold resolution (12-bit / 4096 counts vs 8-bit / 256 counts for the NA41), faster smart-teach (one button vs multi-step procedure), and the dual-display showing both incident level and threshold simultaneously. The NA41 is still available for legacy installations where replacement must match exactly.

Method 1 (full auto tuning): (1) Point the fiber at the target condition (target present, no background); (2) Press and release the SET button — the red display shows the saved target value with a '00' to 'F' indicator; (3) Point the fiber at the background (no target); (4) Press and release SET again — the amplifier calculates the midpoint threshold with ~2:1 margin to either side.
