The Omron E3X-ZV11 is the NPN output variant of Omron's E3X-ZV 1-channel Smart Fiber Amplifier family — a cost-optimized amplifier with twin 7-segment display, smart-tuning teach, and a 50 µs response time that makes it the right pick for high-speed counting applications (up to 10 kHz event rates). manufactured by Omron Corporation. The amplifier accepts any E32-series fiber-optic cable on the front face and supports through-beam, diffuse, and retro-reflective modes. The NPN open-collector output sinks current (up to 100 mA at 30 VDC) to drive a PLC input, relay coil, or counter directly.

There is no EtherCAT or CompoNet communication support on any ZV variant.

What's the difference between E3X-ZV11 and E3X-HD11?
Both are 1-channel smart fiber amplifiers with twin display, but at different price/feature tiers: E3X-HD11 is the higher-functionality tier (~30 % more expensive) with added features: (a) high-sensitivity mode for sub-millimetre object detection; (b) APC (auto-power-control) for compensation when fiber ages; (c) EtherCAT/CompoNet communication adapter support (E3X-ECT); (d) external trigger input (some HD variants); (e) additional tuning modes like 7-step fine-tuning.
Can the E3X-ZV11 do 10 kHz counting?
Yes — the 50 µs response time (1/0.05 ms = 20 kHz theoretical max) handles 10 kHz actual event counting reliably with margin. Note that the 50 µs is the response time of the analog front-end; the digital processing adds ~100 µs of decision time, giving a practical 200 µs decision time per event.
What's the difference between E3X-ZV11 and E3X-MZV11?
E3X-ZV11 (this SKU) is 1-channel with 1 output and no external input. E3X-MZV11 is 2-channel with 2 outputs, allowing two fiber-optic cables per amplifier (saves panel space when you have 2 adjacent detection points). The MZV11 also has 2 external inputs (on the E3X-MZV@2 variants) for trigger / synchronization.
Can the E3X-ZV11 be controlled from a PLC over a network?
No — the E3X-ZV11 does not support any fieldbus communication adapter; the amplifier only has the pre-wired NPN output to communicate with a controller. For networked control where you want to read incident light level, set threshold remotely, and run diagnostics over Ethernet, the E3X-HD@ series supports the E3X-ECT communication unit (up to 16 amplifiers on EtherCAT), the E3X-CRT (CompoNet), or the E3X-SRT (Slave Terminal CompoNet).
