Product Overview

The Omron EE-SX676-WR is a slot-type photomicrosensor in the EE-SX67 family: emitter and receiver face each other across a 5 mm gap inside one molded black PBT body, with the "close-mount" (tight-mount) footprint that lets it sit close to the actuator bracket. The "-WR" suffix means it ships with a 1 m pre-wired cable instead of the 4-pin connector on the body of the plain EE-SX676.

Choosing this variant

Within the EE-SX67 lineup, the differences are body style, output polarity, and wiring. EE-SX670/671/672/673 is the original body style; EE-SX674/675/676/677 is the close-mount body. The "2" suffix is NPN; the "P" suffix is PNP. The "-WR" suffix on the end is the pre-wired 1 m lead-out cable. EE-SX676-WR puts all of that together: close-mount body, NPN, pre-wired.

Where it fits

Slot sensors shine where the target passes through the gap — index flags on a rotating disk, tabs and labels on a feeder, end-of-stroke flags on a pneumatic cylinder. The 5 mm slot accepts targets down to 2 × 0.8 mm opaque. The Light-ON / Dark-ON switch lets you invert the output without rewiring.

Before ordering

Confirm the load side: the open-collector transistor pulls to 0 V, so the PLC input or relay coil must sit between +V and the output. If your PLC expects a sourcing (PNP) signal, pick EE-SX676P-WR instead.

Key Features

  • EE-SX67 close-mount slot photomicrosensor
  • 5 mm slot width, accepts 2 × 0.8 mm opaque minimum
  • NPN open-collector output, Dark-ON / Light-ON switchable
  • Pre-wired 1 m 4-conductor cable ("-WR" suffix)
  • Supply voltage DC 5 to 24 V ±10 %
  • Load current 100 mA max
  • Infrared 940 nm LED source
  • Black PBT housing, IP50
  • SKU: EE-SX676-WR
  • Series: EE-SX67 (slot photomicrosensor, close-mount)
  • Voltage: 8 V

Best-Fit Applications

  • Index-flags on rotating disks and timing wheels
  • Edge detection on labels in print-and-apply systems
  • End-of-stroke flag detection on pneumatic cylinders
  • Counting small parts on vibratory feeders
  • Tab and pin presence checks on assembly conveyors

Buying Checklist

  • Choose EE-SX676-WR for an NPN close-mount sensor with a 1 m pre-wired cable.
  • Choose EE-SX676 (no -WR) if your harness already carries the EE-SX67 4-pin connector.
  • Choose EE-SX672-WR for the standard T-style body in the same NPN pre-wired format.
  • Choose EE-SX670P-WR or EE-SX674P-WR for PNP output to a sourcing PLC.
  • Verify the target fits within the 2 × 0.8 mm opaque minimum for reliable detection.
  • Use the Light-ON / Dark-ON switch to invert the output rather than rewiring the PLC.

FAQ for EE-SX676-WR

What is the difference between EE-SX672-WR and EE-SX676-WR?
Both are 5 mm slot, NPN, 1 m pre-wired sensors. The EE-SX672-WR is the standard T-style body; the EE-SX676-WR is the close-mount body, which fits where the bracket is tight against the actuator. Pick the 72 for typical mounting, pick the 76 for shallow brackets.
Can the EE-SX676-WR drive a 24 V PLC input directly?
Yes, if the PLC expects a sinking (NPN) input. The sensor's open-collector transistor switches the input to 0 V; the PLC's input circuit must be between +24 V and the sensor output. For a sourcing PLC, choose the EE-SX676P-WR (PNP).
Is the EE-SX676-WR still in production?
Yes. The EE-SX670 series has been in active production since the late 1990s and remains widely stocked.
