The Omron EE-SX872 is a T-shape slot photomicro-sensor from the EE-SX77 / SX87 family, manufactured by Omron Corporation. Hengyixin Automation ships this sensor from our Xiamen warehouse with a 30-day DOA return window and a datasheet PDF included in the box.
The emitter and receiver face each other across a 5 mm slot. The T-shape body sits at the centre line of the optical path so the flag or tab passes through the slot. The output is NPN open-collector, Light-ON, which means the output is ON when the receiver sees the emitter beam. Sensing object minimum is 2 x 0.8 mm opaque.
Supply is 5 to 24 VDC at 35 mA consumption with a 100 mA load limit. Response is 1 kHz minimum, 3 kHz average. A 2 m prewired cable exits the body. The case is PBT, weight about 20 g, IP60. Operating temperature is -25 to +55 degC. For the Dark-ON version on the same body, pick the EE-SX870. For the standard L-shape body, pick the EE-SX674.

What is the difference between EE-SX872 and EE-SX872A?
The EE-SX872 is Light-ON (output ON when the beam is received). The EE-SX872A is Dark-ON (output ON when the beam is broken). The body, cable, and electrical spec are the same.
How small a target can the EE-SX872 detect?
Down to 2 x 0.8 mm opaque at the optical centre. Thin wires and transparent objects will not trigger the sensor. For 0.5 mm targets, use a smaller-slot model such as the EE-SX674 family.
Can the EE-SX872 run on 5 VDC logic?
Yes. The unit runs on 5 to 24 VDC, so it can sit directly on a 5 V logic supply or a 24 V PLC input. Residual voltage is 0.4 V max at 40 mA and 0.8 V max at 100 mA load.
