Product Overview

The Omron G3PE-515B is a compact three-phase solid state relay (SSR) rated for 15 A per phase on a 200-480 VAC heater or motor load. The DC12-24V control input switches all three phases together through a zero-cross trigger, so the load is energised and de-energised near the AC waveform crossover — quieter and with less inrush stress than a random-fire SSR. The heat sink and DIN-rail mount are built in.

When a 3-phase SSR makes sense

A single-phase SSR (G3PE-215B at 15 A, or G3PE-225B at 25 A) is the right pick for a single-phase heater or 1-phase load. Pick the G3PE-515B for a balanced three-phase resistive load — a delta or star heater bank, a 3-phase oven zone, a heat-seal bar, or a thermal process chamber. One 3-phase SSR replaces three single-phase SSRs, halves the wiring and DIN-rail space, and uses one PLC output instead of three.

Sizing the current rating

The 15 A rating applies at 40 °C ambient with normal mounting. In a sealed cabinet above 40 °C, derate to 10-12 A or step up to the 25 A G3PE-525B for headroom. The relay is rated for 6 kW on a 400 V three-phase resistive load. For motor loads, add an output contactor — SSRs handle motor inrush poorly.

Before ordering

DIN-rail mount fits TR35-15Fe rail (IEC 60715). The control input is DC12-24V, so it takes a PLC sourcing output or a temperature-controller SSR drive signal directly. For 5 V logic control, pick a G3PE variant with a 5 V input instead. Add a fuse on the AC load side for short-circuit protection — the SSR itself has no internal fuse.

Key Features

  • Three-phase compact SSR, 15 A per phase at 40 °C
  • Load voltage 200-480 VAC, 50/60 Hz (operating range 180-528 V)
  • Control input DC12-24V (operating range DC9.6-30V), 7 mA
  • Zero-cross switching (B suffix) for low EMI and reduced inrush stress
  • Built-in heat sink and DIN-rail mount — no extra heatsink sizing needed
  • Suitable for 6 kW three-phase resistive load at 400 V
  • UL, CSA, TÜV certified
  • SKU: G3PE-515B
  • Series: G3PE compact SSR for heater control
  • Voltage: 200 TO 480 VAC
  • I/O: 12 I/O

Best-Fit Applications

  • Three-phase heater bank on a plastic-extrusion line (barrel zones, die heaters)
  • Heat-seal bars on a three-phase packaging machine
  • Three-zone oven control for a thermal process chamber
  • Industrial dryer or curing tunnel with balanced 3-phase resistive elements
  • Boiler or furnace element switching on a 400 V three-phase supply

Buying Checklist

  • Choose G3PE-515B for a 15 A three-phase heater SSR on a 200-480 VAC supply; pick G3PE-525B (25 A) for higher load current.
  • Use a single-phase SSR (G3PE-215B or G3PE-225B) for a 1-phase heater — three-phase SSRs do not switch single-phase loads correctly.
  • Derate from 15 A to 10-12 A in a sealed cabinet above 40 °C, or step up to the 25 A model.
  • Add an AC-side fuse for short-circuit protection — the SSR has no internal fuse.
  • For motor loads, add a contactor in series — SSRs do not handle motor inrush as well as contactors do.

FAQ for G3PE-515B

What is the difference between G3PE-515B and G3PE-515BL?
Both are 15 A three-phase SSRs with the same load rating. The BL variant adds a status indicator that shows when the SSR is ON. Pick BL when you want a visual indicator at the cabinet for quick fault diagnosis; pick plain B for lower cost.
What control voltage does the G3PE-515B need?
DC12-24V on the input terminals (operating range DC9.6-30V). It takes a PLC sourcing output or a temperature-controller SSR drive signal directly. For 5 V logic control, pick a G3PE variant with a 5 V input instead.
Can I use the G3PE-515B on a single-phase load?
No. The G3PE-515B is wired with three AC output terminals, one for each phase. On a single-phase load, two of the three outputs would float and the load would not switch correctly. Use a single-phase SSR (G3PE-215B or G3PE-225B) for 1-phase loads.
Does the G3PE-515B need a separate heat sink?
No — the heat sink is built into the unit. The 15 A per phase rating already accounts for normal DIN-rail mounting with adequate cabinet ventilation. In a sealed cabinet above 40 °C, derate the load current or step up to the 25 A G3PE-525B for additional thermal headroom.
