Product Overview
The Omron G9SA-301 AC/DC24 is a compact safety relay unit from the G9SA family — 3 NO safety contacts plus 1 NC auxiliary contact, 24 V AC/DC supply, automatic reset, and a 45 mm-wide DIN-rail housing. It monitors a dual-channel safety input from devices like E-stop buttons, guard-door switches, safety light curtains, or two-hand controls, and switches its safety outputs to a Category 4 / PL e / SIL 3 level when the safety circuit is intact.
The G9SA family is Omron's mid-size safety-relay line: narrower than the G9SA-TH301 two-hand module, and simpler than the G9SE programmable safety controllers. The 301 suffix means "3 safety contacts, no OFF-delay" — the most common configuration for E-stop and guard-door circuits that need a single stop category without time-delayed release.
Where the G9SA-301 fits on a safety circuit
Typical wiring pairs a dual-channel E-stop button or a D4NS / D4NL guard switch as the input device. When both channels close (button released, guard closed), the G9SA energises the 3 NO safety outputs to the contactors or drives downstream. Pressing the E-stop or opening the guard opens the safety loop, the G9SA drops the NO outputs within its 100 ms response window, and the downstream contactors drop the motor power. The 1 NC auxiliary contact is used for monitoring or for the reset-feedback loop.
Selecting this variant vs other G9SA units
In the same 45 mm body, the G9SA-321 adds two OFF-delay contacts for controlled-stop categories (1–15 s in 15 steps). The G9SA-501 has 5 NO safety contacts for circuits that need to drive more contactors. The G9SA-TH301 has the two-hand-control logic for press applications. For broader monitoring with diagnostics, the G9SE-201 or G9SP safety controllers offer configurable logic in a similarly compact body.
Before ordering
Wire the input as dual-channel (two NC contacts in series, cross-monitored) for any Cat 4 / PL e application — a single-channel wiring caps out at lower categories. Check that the panel supply is genuinely 24 V AC or 24 V DC; there are also 100–240 VAC supply variants of the G9SA family that look similar on the front label. The 3 NO contacts are rated 5 A at 250 VAC and 5 A at 30 VDC for resistive loads — derate to about 1.5 A for inductive AC-15 use. Always wire a fuse on the contactor side (10 A gG / gI).

Best-Fit Applications
- Single-stop E-stop and sliding-guard monitoring on a packaging, assembly, or transfer machine
- Dual-channel guard-door switch (D4NS, D4NL) interface for a mid-size machine cell
- Backup safety relay for a safety light curtain output (F3S, MS4800)
- Drives contactors or servo drive STO inputs in a Category 4 / PL e stop circuit
- Refit of an older G7SA / G9S-series safety relay on an existing machine
Buying Checklist
- Confirm the panel supply really is 24 V AC or 24 V DC — the G9SA-301 AC/DC24 is not interchangeable with the 100–240 VAC variants.
- Wire the input as dual-channel NC with cross-monitoring for any Cat 4 / PL e application; single-channel wiring caps out below the headline safety level.
- Use the front reset switch to choose auto or manual reset — manual is the safer default for E-stop circuits that must be deliberately reset.
- Derate the 5 A NO contact rating for inductive loads (AC-15): about 1.5 A at 250 VAC — pull from the load's contactor coil through the G9SA, not from a big motor directly.
- Add the front-mounted TÜV / UL marking sticker to the safety file — the G9SA is approved to EN 954-1 / ISO 13849-1 PL e and SIL 3 with the correct wiring.
