What's the difference between G9SE-201 and G9SE-401?
G9SE-201 has 2 safety outputs (DPST-NO); G9SE-401 has 4 safety outputs. Use G9SE-201 when your machine has 2 contactors that need to be cut off (typical single-motor machine with a forward and reverse contactor, or a 2-channel safety contactor setup). Use G9SE-401 when you need to control 4 separate outputs, e.g., 2 contactors + 2 servo drives in STO (safe torque off) mode.
Can G9SE-201 be used for Category 4 / PLe?
Yes — when wired in 2-channel mode with EDM feedback, the G9SE-201 achieves Category 4 / PLe per ISO 13849-1 and SIL3 per IEC 62061. The 1-channel mode is only Category 1 / PLc, which is acceptable for low-risk machinery but not for hazardous applications.
What does the OFF-delay do on the G9SE-221?
The G9SE-221 has the same 2 safety outputs as the 201, but with configurable OFF-delay (0.5s or 3s options on T05 and T30 variants). The OFF-delay is used for controlled-stop applications: when the e-stop is pressed, the safety outputs stay closed for the delay period, allowing a controlled deceleration of the machine before the contactors drop. This is required for machines with high inertia (large flywheels, conveyor belts) where a hard stop would damage the product or the machine.
Do I need to wire the EDM feedback loop?
For Category 4 / PLe with 2-channel input, yes — the EDM loop is required. Wire the N/C auxiliary contacts of the downstream contactors back to the G9SE T31/T32 terminals. The G9SE will lock out if it detects that the contactors didn't de-energise within the expected time. For Category 1 or 3 applications, the EDM loop is optional but recommended as a diagnostic.
