Product Overview
The Omron G9SA-501 AC-DC24V is the 5 NO + 1 NC safety relay in the G9SA compact family. The five normally-open contacts switch the safety output -- main contactor coils, secondary contactor coils, an indicator lamp, a holding loop -- from a single e-stop or guard-door input. The one NC contact is a non-safety aux that follows the relay state for a host PLC or indicator panel. The 5 A at 250 VAC / 30 VDC contact rating drives AC contactor coils directly without an interposing relay.
What the channel and reset DIP switches do
The bottom of the unit carries two DIP switches. The channel switch picks 1-channel (single e-stop loop) or 2-channel (dual-wire e-stop / guard-door switch -- required for Cat 4 / PL e). The reset switch picks manual reset (operator must press a reset button after the safety input re-closes) or auto reset (relay re-closes as soon as the input re-closes). Manual reset is required for most Cat 3 / PL d and Cat 4 / PL e installations -- auto reset is only allowed when the operator cannot reach into the danger zone after a trip.
Choosing the 5 NO vs the 3 NO head
Pick the G9SA-501 (this SKU) when the safety circuit switches two or three contactor coils and one or two indicator lamps -- the 5 NO contacts cover a forward / reverse contactor pair, a third safety contactor, and a non-safety indicator. Pick the G9SA-301 (3 NO + 1 NC) instead when the circuit only needs one or two contactor coils -- the smaller 17.5 mm body saves DIN-rail space. Add a G9SA-EX301 expansion (3 NO + 1 NC) if a single G9SA-301 is not enough.
Before ordering
Confirm the supply is 24 V -- for 100-240 VAC cabinets, order the G9SA-501 AC100-240 instead. Pair the relay with a direct-opening input device (e-stop, guard-door switch, safety limit switch) and a monitored contactor. The safety category is set by the wiring, the input device, and the contactor monitoring -- not by the G9SA relay alone.

Best-Fit Applications
- E-stop circuit switching two contactor coils + one indicator on a small machine tool
- Guard-door interlock on a robot cell with forward / reverse contactor + indicator pair
- Safety light curtain output switching two safety contactor coils on a packaging line
- Two-hand control upgrade when the existing relay has more NO contacts than the new circuit needs
- Safety mat or safety edge monitoring on a hydraulic press guard with monitored contactor
Buying Checklist
- Pick G9SA-501 AC-DC24V for a 5 NO + 1 NC safety relay on AC/DC 24 V supply in the G9SA 22.5 mm DIN-rail body.
- Pick G9SA-301 AC-DC24 instead when the circuit only needs 3 NO + 1 NC -- the smaller 17.5 mm body saves DIN-rail space.
- Pick G9SA-EX301 to add 3 NO + 1 NC expansion to an existing G9SA-301 (same AC/DC 24 V supply).
- Pick G9SA-501 AC100-240 when the cabinet has 100-240 VAC supply (not AC/DC 24 V).
- Pick G9SA-321-T075 / T15 / T30 when the e-stop needs an OFF-delay (3 NO + 2 NO delayed + 1 NC).
- Set the channel DIP switch to 2-channel and the reset DIP switch to manual for typical Cat 3 / PL d or Cat 4 / PL e installations.
