The G9SB-200-B AC-DC24V is the 17.5 mm-wide ultra-slim safety relay unit in Omron's G9SB family, used as the safety output stage in a Category 4 / PL e per ISO 13849-1 emergency-stop, guard-door, or light-curtain circuit. It takes a 24 VAC or 24 VDC supply on terminals A1 / A2, monitors one or two input channels from safety devices (E-stop pushbuttons, interlock switches, safety mats, light curtains), and switches its two DPST-NO safety contact sets simultaneously when the safety condition is met.

How the G9SB compares to the G9SE and G9SA

Wiring and application context

In a typical Cat 4 / PL e guard-door circuit, the safety door switch feeds both input channels of the G9SB; the two NO safety contacts then drive the contactor coils or the safe-stop input of an NX safety controller. Auto-reset means the relay picks up immediately when both inputs close, which is correct for guard-door monitoring — the door must be closed before the machine can restart, and the relay re-engages as soon as the door closes. For emergency-stop circuits, add a manual-reset variant (G9SB-200-D) so the operator must explicitly reset the safety chain after an E-stop, preventing automatic restart on release.

What is the difference between G9SB-200-B and G9SB-200-D?
Both are 17.5 mm 2-pole DPST-NO safety relays with 24 VAC/VDC supply. The -B is auto-reset (the relay picks up immediately when both inputs close) and is correct for guard-door monitoring. The -D is manual-reset (the relay only picks up after a reset button is pressed even after both inputs close) and is correct for emergency-stop circuits where automatic restart could be hazardous. The reset button is wired to terminals Y1 / Y2 on the -D variant.
What safety category does the G9SB-200-B achieve?
Up to Category 4 per EN 954-1, Performance Level e per ISO 13849-1, and SIL 3 per IEC 61508, provided the surrounding circuit is wired correctly with two independent channels feeding the inputs and the two safety contacts driving two independent contactors or valves. How do I wire the input channels?
In +common mode (B suffix), both input channels share a common terminal T12. For two-channel monitoring of one E-stop with two contacts, wire each E-stop contact to its own channel (T11-T12 and T21-T22) with the common grounded at one end.
Does the G9SB-200-B need a manual reset?
No — the B suffix indicates auto-reset. The relay picks up its safety contacts as soon as both input channels are closed. For emergency-stop circuits you typically want manual reset so the operator has to press a reset button before the machine can restart after an E-stop event; in that case, pick the G9SB-200-D (manual reset, +common input).
