The Omron NJ-PD3001 is the 24 VDC-input power supply for the NJ/DX-series machine controllers. It accepts a regulated 19.2-28.8 VDC feed and produces 5 VDC at 6.0 A and 24 VDC at 1.0 A, for 30 W total. The unit sits in the supply slot of the CPU rack and powers the controller and the I/O units on the bus. It includes a green PWR LED and a RUN output contact that closes while the CPU is in RUN status.

When a 24 VDC rack is the right call

Use the PD3001 in cabinets that already have a stable 24 VDC rail from another supply, or in mobile or vehicle systems where 24 VDC is the available source. It pairs with a separate DIN-rail power supply that handles the rest of the cabinet's 24 VDC loads, so a fault on one branch does not pull the controller down. In a pure AC-fed panel, the NJ-PA3001 is usually the simpler choice because it does not need an upstream 24 VDC supply.

NJ-PD3001 takes 24 VDC and uses 60 W at full output. NJ-PA3001 takes 100-240 VAC and uses 120 VA. Both feed the same 5 VDC and 24 VDC rails to the rack, so the controller and I/O side see no difference. Pick by the cabinet feed and the size of the upstream protection.

Confirm the 24 VDC source is regulated, inrush-capable, and within the 19.2-28.8 VDC range at the supply terminals. Size the upstream supply for the controller plus all other 24 VDC loads on the same rail, with margin. The RUN output is a contact, not a solid-state signal; check the receiving input is suitable for a dry contact. Allow airflow around the vented housing and follow the derating curve for cabinet temperature.

Can a single 24 VDC supply feed both the NJ-PD3001 and other cabinet loads?
Yes, as long as that supply can deliver 60 W to the NJ-PD3001 plus the steady current of every other load on the same rail. Does the NJ-PD3001 have a maintenance forecast or remote alarm?
