FAQ for NX-AD2204

What does differential input mean on the NX-AD2204?
Each input has its own + and - terminal at the module. The two channels do not share a common ground. This rejects common-mode noise from VFD cables and ground loops. For single-ended wiring (one wire per sensor, common ground), use the NX-AD2203.
Does the NX-AD2204 need a 24 VDC field supply?
No. The NX-AD2204 has no I/O power supply terminals and takes all its power from the NX bus. The 4-20 mA loop is powered from the transmitter side (2-wire device) or from an external 24 VDC rail (4-wire device).
Which CPUs and couplers accept the NX-AD2204?
All NX-series CPU units (NX102, NX502, NX1P2) and all NX-ECC201 / NX-ECC202 EtherCAT couplers. Mounts on DIN track IEC 60715 TH35-7.5 / TH35-15 in any orientation.
What is input disconnection detection on the NX-AD2204?
If the 4-20 mA loop is broken (wire cut or transmitter failure), the input signal falls below 4 mA. The NX-AD2204 detects this and raises a disconnection flag in the input tag, so the PLC can raise an alarm before the process value drifts to 0.
Can the NX-AD2204 read 0-10 V signals?
No. The NX-AD2204 is a current input (4-20 mA differential). For 0-10 V or +/- 10 V inputs on the same 2-ch form factor, use the NX-AD2604 (voltage, differential). For thermocouple / RTD inputs, use the NX-TS3101 or NX-TS3201.
