Does the NX-EIC202 support CIP Safety?
Yes - the NX-EIC202 supports local CIP Safety when an NX-SL3300 or NX-SL3500 Safety CPU mounts on the same rack. Safety I/O units like NX-SID800 and NX-SOD400 sit alongside standard NX I/O. The CJ1W-EIP21S, CS1W-EIP21S or NJ501-1500 must be the safety scanner on the network.
How many NX units can the NX-EIC202 attach?
Up to 63 NX slices per coupler. The NX-bus I/O data size is 512 bytes each direction, and the EtherNet/IP connection size is 504 bytes per direction. For larger cabinets, split across multiple NX-EIC202 couplers on the same scanner.
What is the difference between NX-EIC202 and NX-EIC201?
The EIC201 is the standard EtherNet/IP coupler for non-safety cabinets. The EIC202 adds support for CIP Safety over the same network and local safety control via the NX-SL3 family. For most new safety applications, pick the EIC202 over the older EIC201.
Can the NX-EIC202 work with non-Omron PLCs?
Yes - the NX-EIC202 speaks standard EtherNet/IP, so Rockwell ControlLogix, Schneider M340 and any EtherNet/IP scanner can read NX I/O via the EDS file. The EDS file ships on the Omron Europe support site and is imported into Studio 5000 or Unity Pro during commissioning.
