The R88D-KN04H-ECT-Z is a 400 W Accurax G5-series AC servo drive with built-in EtherCAT communications, designed for high-performance positioning, speed, and torque control of R88M-K40030H-series servo motors in packaging machines, machine tools, robots, and material-handling systems. The drive accepts single-phase or 3-phase 200-240 VAC (170-264 V operating range) at 50/60 Hz, with a rated input current of 4.3 A on single-phase or 2.4 A on 3-phase, and delivers 0.4 kW continuous output at 2.6 A rms to the motor.
The R88D-KN family is split along four axes: power rating (KN01 = 100 W, KN02 = 200 W, KN04 = 400 W, KN08 = 750 W, KN10 = 1 kW, KN15 = 1.5 kW, KN20 = 2 kW, KN30 = 3 kW), input voltage (L = 100 VAC single-phase, H = 200 VAC single/3-phase, no 400 VAC variant in KN family — that comes from R88D-KT), communication interface (ECT = EtherCAT, ML2 = MECHATROLINK-II), and variant (blank = incremental encoder support, Z = Simulink-compatible + absolute encoder support).
The R88D-KN04H-ECT-Z communicates with the host controller (typically an NJ501-1400, NJ101-1000, NX102-1000, or third-party EtherCAT master) via 100 Mbps EtherCAT using the CoE (CANopen over EtherCAT) protocol with the standard CiA 402 drive profile. The drive supports all standard CiA 402 modes of operation: profile position mode (PP), profile velocity mode (PV), profile torque mode (PT), cyclic synchronous position mode (CSP), cyclic synchronous velocity mode (CSV), and cyclic synchronous torque mode (CST). The minimum EtherCAT cycle time is 250 µs, which is fast enough for high-dynamic positioning applications (packaging machines, electronic assembly, semiconductor handling).
The R88D-KN04H-ECT-Z pairs with the R88M-K40030H family of 400 W servo motors: R88M-K40030H (incremental encoder), R88M-K40030H-S2 (incremental + brake), R88M-K40030H-B (incremental with brake, different brake variant), R88M-K40030H-S2-Z (Simulink-compatible absolute encoder, this SKU's intended pairing), and R88M-K40030T (absolute encoder with multi-turn battery backup). The 400 W motor delivers 1.3 Nm rated torque at 3000 rpm with 350 % peak torque (4.5 Nm) for acceleration and overload. For the Simulink profile support to be active, the motor must be a -S2-Z variant (R88M-K40030H-S2-Z).
