Product Overview
The TL-N10ME1 is the 10 mm-sensing variant of Omron's TL-N rectangular inductive proximity sensor family. The 'rectangular' form factor — 30 × 30.5 × 52.5 mm ABS housing — is the right pick when an M18 cylindrical inductive sensor won't physically fit the installation (e.g., inside a tight fixture pocket or mounted flat against a moving part where the round barrel would be in the way) but the application doesn't need a flat capacitive sensor. The TL-N10ME1 ships pre-wired with a 2 m oil-resistant PVC cable and provides an NPN open-collector normally-open output.

Rectangular form-factor advantages
The rectangular 30 × 30 mm form factor offers three advantages over an equivalent M18 cylindrical: (1) flat-mounting — the back face can be flush-mounted against a flat panel or bracket without a through-hole, simplifying installation; (2) cable routing — the cable exits from the bottom or side of the housing, allowing the sensor to be installed in tighter spaces without the cable being trapped behind a round barrel; (3) higher sensing distance in a smaller body — a 10 mm range in a 30 mm rectangular body is similar to M30 cylindrical sensors (which are 30 mm diameter × 80 mm long).
Unshielded vs shielded mounting
The TL-N10ME1 is unshielded (non-flush) — the magnetic field extends beyond the front face of the housing, allowing the sensor to detect targets approaching from any direction (not just directly in front). The shield-side clearance requirement is 0 mm — install directly against any ferrous or non-ferrous bracket with no field-attenuation concern. The shielded TL-N12MD (12 mm range shielded) and TL-N7MD (7 mm range shielded) variants have a metal collar that localizes the field, allowing closer mounting but reducing the sensing range by ~50 %.
