Product Overview

The Omron C200HW-PA209R is a high-capacity AC power supply module for C200H and CS1-series PLC CPU racks. It provides 5 VDC at 9 A and 26 VDC at 1.3 A from a single-phase 100-120 or 200-240 VAC feed, for a combined 45 W output. The supply sits in the dedicated power-supply slot of a C200H CPU or expansion backplane and feeds every I/O and communication module on the rack through the backplane bus. It also includes a SPST-NO RUN output contact that closes while the CPU is in RUN mode, useful for a remote run light, interlock, or higher-level PLC input.

When the extra capacity is worth it

Use this model when a C200HW-PA204 or PA204S has run out of headroom for a growing rack. The 9 A main output leaves room for larger I/O counts, several special-function units, or a communication card that the smaller 4.6 A supply cannot feed. If the project uses any 24 VDC input modules, the PA204S-style auxiliary 24 V output is not part of the PA209R, so plan to add a separate 24 VDC supply for those.

Watch the backplane and input voltage

C200HW-PA209R requires a -V1 or newer CPU backplane. Older C200HW-BCxx1 backplanes cannot be used with the high-power supply. The supply accepts either 100-120 or 200-240 VAC, but the choice is fixed at installation; there is no internal voltage selector. Match the wiring, breaker, and upstream protection to the chosen input range.

Before ordering

Confirm that the planned 5 VDC load, including the CPU and every planned module, fits within 9 A. The 1.3 A 26 VDC output is intended for the backplane; it is not a general-purpose 24 VDC service supply. Leave at least 80 mm of clearance above and below the supply and use the M4 self-raising terminals with the recommended wire size. Plan for the 30 A inrush at 100 VAC (40 A at 200 VAC) when sizing the branch breaker.

  • 5 VDC at 9 A main output
  • 26 VDC at 1.3 A backplane output
  • 100-120 or 200-240 VAC input
  • SPST-NO RUN output contact
  • Backplane mounting with screw terminals
  • Compatible with -V1 and later CPU backplanes
  • SKU: C200HW-PA209R
  • Series: C200HW / CS1
  • Voltage: 200-240 VAC
  • I/O: 100 I/O

Best-Fit Applications

  • Main supply for C200H or CS1 CPU racks with many I/O and special-function modules
  • Replacement for C200HW-PA204 when 5 VDC load exceeds 4.6 A
  • Higher-power spare for C200H-series process and machine-control panels
  • Retrofit work for C200HX/HG/HE CPU racks using a -V1 backplane
  • Service stock for legacy C200H lines still in production

Buying Checklist

  • Confirm the rack backplane is a -V1 or later before ordering this high-power supply.
  • Check the planned 5 VDC load against the 9 A limit; include all special I/O and communication modules.
  • Choose the input voltage range (100-120 or 200-240 VAC) before wiring; the supply is fixed-range.
  • Confirm the 26 VDC output is for the backplane only; add a separate supply for 24 VDC input modules.
  • Allow for 80 mm of clearance above and below the supply for airflow.
  • Check the 30-40 A inrush current when sizing the branch breaker.

FAQ for C200HW-PA209R

What is the difference between C200HW-PA209R and C200HW-PA204S?
The PA204S gives 5 VDC at 4.6 A plus a 24 VDC service output at 0.8 A for 30 W total. The PA209R raises the 5 VDC output to 9 A, drops the auxiliary to 26 VDC at 1.3 A, and adds a RUN relay. Use the PA209R when the rack needs more 5 V current; the PA204S fits 24 VDC input modules better.
Does the C200HW-PA209R include a 24 VDC service output?
No. The auxiliary output is 26 VDC at 1.3 A and feeds the backplane. It is not rated for general 24 VDC loads. Add a separate DIN-rail power supply if 24 VDC input modules are present on the rack.
Can a C200HW-PA209R be used as a direct replacement for a C200HW-PA204?
Yes, when the backplane is a -V1 or later version. Older C200HW-BCxx1 backplanes cannot host the high-power supply. Check the backplane suffix, confirm the planned 5 VDC load fits the 9 A rating, and run a short commissioning test before placing the rack in service.
