Omron C200HW-PA & CS1W Legacy Power and Cabling
Support parts for older Omron racks that are still very much alive in the field. The C200HW-PA units are backplane power supplies for CS1 and C200H racks, and they are not 24 V control supplies — they generate the 5 V and 26 V rails the backplane needs. The CS1W items are the expansion cables, EtherNet/IP unit and special I/O that hold those older systems together.
Lifecycle status
The C200HW-PA units we stock have no end-of-life record; the CS1 platform is mature and largely superseded
Omron's discontinuation database lists C200HW-PA204C and PA204C-932 as ended 31 March 2025 with the NX and CJ2 series named as the direction of travel for the platform, and the -932 variant with no replacement. The C200HW-PA204, PA204S and PA209R units we stock do not appear in the database. Separately, CS1G-CPUH and CS1H-CPUH CPU units are recorded as ended 31 March 2025 — one record naming the NX and CJ2 series as replacements, another listing no replacement.
What to fit instead: For whole-platform migration, CS1 and C200H move to NJ/NX or CJ2; for a single failed part, the part is what you want
Key specifications
- C200HW-PA204: 100-240 VAC input (85-264 allowable), 5 V at 4.6 A plus 26 V at 0.625 A, 30 W total, 122 mm deep
- C200HW-PA204S adds a 24 VDC service output at 0.8 A on top of the same 5 V and 26 V rails — the S is the service-power type
- C200HW-PA209R is the high-power variant: 5 V at 9.0 A plus 26 V at 1.3 A, 45 W total, with a RUN status output (1 Form A, 250 VAC 2 A) and 153 mm depth
- None of the three provides a 24 VDC control-rail output — that is the most common misreading on these parts
- CS1W-CN223 and CS1W-CN713 are I/O expansion rack connecting cables at 2 m and 70 cm; CS1W-CN226 is the cable set for the NJ/CJ/CS rack chain
- CS1W-EIP21S is the EtherNet/IP unit used when a CS1 or CJ1 CPU has no built-in EtherNet/IP; CS1W-CT021 is a special I/O unit
How to read a C200HW-PA or CS1W model number
The last three digits are the wattage class for the power supplies, and the suffix is the variant.
| Model | Output | Variant |
|---|---|---|
| C200HW-PA204 | 5 V 4.6 A + 26 V 0.625 A (30 W) | Base unit, 122 mm deep |
| C200HW-PA204S | 5 V 4.6 A + 26 V 0.625 A + 24 V service 0.8 A | S = service-power type |
| C200HW-PA209R | 5 V 9.0 A + 26 V 1.3 A (45 W) | R = RUN output, 153 mm deep |
| CS1W-CN223 | I/O expansion rack cable | 2 m |
| CS1W-CN713 | I/O expansion rack cable | 70 cm |
| CS1W-CN226 | I/O expansion rack cable set | For the NJ/CJ/CS chain |
| CS1W-EIP21S | EtherNet/IP unit | For CS1 and CJ1 CPUs without built-in Ethernet |
| CS1W-CT021 | Special I/O unit | Counter / position control |
Output wattage is 20 plus the last two digits across this family: PA204 is the 30 W class and PA209R the 45 W class. The rails are 5 V and 26 V regardless.
Staying on CS1 or moving to Sysmac
If the machine is still producing, replacing one failed unit is almost always cheaper than a migration project. Omron publishes I868 and the CS/CJ migration guide, and ladders from CS1 largely carry over to CJ2 — but the motion configuration does not, and every I/O module has to be replaced or bridged. Note also that many CJ1W Basic I/O units can be used on a CS1 backplane, which lets a mixed fleet share a spares pool even as you migrate one bay at a time.
Where these parts get used
- Dead CS1 CPU bus or I/O bus on a packaging line still producing, where the part is a drop-in and a migration project is not justified
- Spare holding for C200H-era machines in a plant that never upgraded
- Adding EtherNet/IP to a CS1 or CJ1 installation that has no built-in network port
Which model do you need
- Order C200HW-PA204S rather than the PA204 if the original had a service supply — the base unit has no 24 VDC service output at all.
- Choose PA209R only where the original backplane draw genuinely needs 9 A at 5 V; it is physically longer and costlier.
- Match the expansion cable length to the rack layout — CN223 is 2 m, CN713 is 70 cm, and the wrong length means rebuilding the rack.
- Check the platform's CPU status before stocking spares long-term: CS1G-CPUH and CS1H-CPUH are recorded as ended in 2025.

Frequently asked
Is the C200HW-PA204 a 24 VDC power supply?
No, and this is the most common misunderstanding on this part. It is a backplane power supply unit for CS1 and C200H racks. It takes 100-240 VAC and produces 5 V at 4.6 A plus 26 V at 0.625 A — 30 W total. It has no 24 VDC output. If you need a 24 VDC service supply as well, that is the PA204S variant, which adds one at 0.8 A.
What is the difference between PA204, PA204S and PA209R?
PA204 is the base 30 W unit giving 5 V at 4.6 A and 26 V at 0.625 A, 122 mm deep. PA204S adds a 24 VDC service output. PA209R is the high-power variant at 5 V 9.0 A plus 26 V 1.3 A — 45 W — with a RUN status contact, at 153 mm deep.
Which expansion cable do I need for a CS1 rack?
It depends on the spacing. CS1W-CN223 is the 2 m I/O expansion rack cable and CS1W-CN713 is the 70 cm version. CS1W-CN226 is the cable set for the NJ, CJ and CS rack chain. If the original was CN223, order CN223 — mixing lengths means rebuilding the rack.
Should I migrate a working CS1 machine instead of replacing the failed part?
Usually not, if the machine is still producing. A ladder program from CS1 largely carries over to CJ2, but the motion configuration does not, and every I/O module has to be replaced or bridged through remote I/O. Many CJ1W Basic I/O units also run on a CS1 backplane, so you can migrate one bay at a time while sharing a spares pool.
What does CS1W-EIP21S do?
It is the EtherNet/IP unit for CS1 and CJ1 installations whose CPU has no built-in Ethernet port. It is a separate unit occupying a slot rather than a feature of the CPU, which is the same pattern as the CJ2H-CPU6 plus CJ1W-EIP21S pairing that replaced the -EIP models.
