What is the difference between CP1W-TS001 and CP1W-TS002?
Both accept K or J thermocouples and run at the same 250 ms conversion cycle per channel-group. The TS001 reads 2 inputs and allocates 2 CH; the TS002 reads 4 inputs and allocates 4 CH. The TS001 fits a small machine that only needs two probes; the TS002 fits a multi-zone oven or heat-seal bar where four probes are needed. Pick TS002 when more channels are needed but thermocouples are still the sensor type.
Can the CP1W-TS001 read Pt100 RTDs?
No - the TS001 only accepts K and J thermocouples. For Pt100 or JPt100 resistance thermometers, use CP1W-TS101 (2 channels) or CP1W-TS102 (4 channels). The TS101 and TS102 share the same housing, wiring, and CP1W-CN811 expansion cable as the TS001 but have different input circuits and accuracy specifications.
What thermocouple wire should I use with the CP1W-TS001?
Use the correct thermocouple extension wire for the type - K-type wire for K probes, J-type for J probes - and run it in shielded cable back to the TS001 screw terminals. The shield should be grounded at the PLC end only. Standard copper signal wire picks up the same thermocouple effect at the junction, which adds a degree or more of error to the reading.
How accurate is the CP1W-TS001 at high temperatures?
Accuracy is the larger of plus or minus 0.5 percent of indicated value or plus or minus 2 degC, plus or minus 1 digit across the K or J range. At 1000 degC the 0.5 percent term is plus or minus 5 degC, so the plus or minus 2 degC term dominates. Below -100 degC on type K, tolerance widens to plus or minus 4 degC plus 1 digit.
