Product Overview

The NB10W-TW01B is the 10.1-inch model of Omron's NB-series programmable terminals, the most popular mid-size HMI in the line between the 7-inch NB7W and the discontinued 12-inch NS series. It pairs a 10.1-inch WVGA TFT colour LCD (800 × 480, 65,536 simultaneous colours) with a matrix-resistive touch overlay, 50,000-hour LED backlight, and a built-in 10/100 Base-TX Ethernet port for connection to a CJ2, NJ, NX, or CP1H PLC over EtherNet/IP or FINS.

How the NB10W compares to the rest of the NB family

The NB series covers four screen sizes: NB3Q (3.5 inch 320 × 240), NB5Q (5.6 inch 320 × 234), NB7W (7 inch 800 × 480), and NB10W (10.1 inch 800 × 480) — with -TW00B being the no-Ethernet variant and -TW01B being the Ethernet + USB Host variant. Pick the NB10W-TW01B for 10-inch panels where you need a larger operating area than the 7-inch NB7W without going to a 12-inch NA5 widescreen.

Application in a typical machine

The NB10W-TW01B sits in the operator panel of a packaging line, an assembly cell, or a process skid, with the Ethernet port connecting to the machine's NJ or NX controller. Up to 32 host devices can be registered, so a single HMI can poll multiple controllers and present a unified view. The 60 MB screen memory is enough for thousands of pages and tens of thousands of tags. Operator workflows — recipe selection, parameter editing, alarm acknowledgement, manual jog — are all drag-and-drop objects in NB-Designer, with simulated runtime on the development PC for off-line testing before the project is downloaded to the HMI.

  • Process HMI at the central station of a water-treatment skid with trend graphs
  • Parameter editor on a test stand with user-level access control

Buying Checklist

  • Pick NB10W-TW01B for 10.1-inch 800 × 480 HMI with Ethernet and black bezel
  • Pick NB10W-TW00B if you do not need Ethernet
  • Pick NB7W-TW01B for a 7-inch panel when 10 inches is too large for the cabinet
  • Consider NA5-9W001B-V1 or NA5-12W101B-V1 for new designs — NB series discontinued March 2025
  • Download NB-Designer free from Omron; supports simulated runtime on PC for off-line testing
  • Use a USB memory stick for recipe transfer between machines without a network

FAQ for NB10W-TW01B

What is the difference between NB10W-TW01B and NB10W-TW00B?
The TW01B variant includes the built-in 10/100 Base-TX Ethernet port for connection to NJ / NX controllers over EtherNet/IP or FINS. The TW00B variant has no Ethernet and connects to the PLC only through RS-232C / RS-422 / RS-485 serial. If you need Ethernet, alarm e-mail, or web server features, pick the TW01B.
Is the NB10W-TW01B still in production?
The NB series has been moved to Omron's product discontinuation list, with production of the NB10W-TW01B ending March 2025. Existing stock remains available through authorised distributors like Hengyixin for service and expansion of installed lines, but new long-life-cycle designs should evaluate the NA5-9W001B-V1 (9 inch widescreen) or NA5-12W101B-V1 (12 inch 1280 × 800) as the recommended replacements.
What programming software does the NB10W-TW01B use?
NB-Designer, free download from Omron. NB-Designer supports drag-and-drop Smart Components for alarms, trends, recipes, and ladder-monitor I/O display, plus simulated runtime on the development PC for off-line testing. Projects can be downloaded over Ethernet, USB, or serial. CX-Designer is the older tool for the NS series and is not used for the NB.
Can the NB10W-TW01B connect to a CP1H or CP1L PLC?
Yes — via the RS-232C port using Host Link (CP1H supports Host Link natively; CP1L needs the CP1W-CIF01 RS-232C option board). For Ethernet connection, the CP1H and CP1L do not have built-in Ethernet, so use a CP1W-CIF41 Ethernet option board and connect to the NB10W-TW01B over FINS / TCP. For modern installations, the NJ501 or NX102 controller with built-in Ethernet is the more common pairing.
