Omron NB-Series HMIs — NB3Q, NB5Q, NB7W, NB10W (NB-V1)

The Omron NB-series is the entry-level HMI line that pairs with CP1L, CP1H, CJ-series and NJ-series controllers. All NB panels are programmed in NB-Designer. The original NB generation reached end of production on 31 March 2025; the current models are the NB Series (-V1), which Omron released in May 2023. We hold 12 NB-series SKUs in Xiamen.

Lifecycle status

Original NB generation discontinued 31 March 2025 — NB Series (-V1) is current production

Omron's discontinuation database records NB3Q-TW01B, NB5Q-TW01B, NB7W-TW01B and NB10W-TW01B with an end-of-production date of 31 March 2025, each replaced by the matching -V1 model. The NV3W-M and NV4W programmable terminals were also replaced by NB3Q-TW01B-V1 and NB5Q-TW01B-V1. The NB Series (-V1) is current production and is sold on Omron's own live product pages.

What to fit instead: Original NB TW01B models map to the matching -V1 model — not to the NA series

Key specifications

How to read an NB-series model number

The four segments are size, output type, communications and hardware revision. Two of them decide whether the panel will talk to your controller.

Segment Meaning Example
NB3Q / NB5Q / NB7W / NB10W Panel size — 3.5, 5.6, 7 and 10.1 inch NB7W = 7 inch
-TW Colour TFT touch panel TW on every current NB model
00B / 01B No Ethernet / with Ethernet TW00B has 0 Ethernet ports; TW01B has 1
-V1 Current hardware revision Released May 2023; supersedes the plain TW01B

The NB7W-TW11B is an NB-S series part, not a current NB-V1 option — the NB-S series had an order cutoff in November 2023. The stripped current model is the NB7W-TW00B-V1.

Moving a project from an old NB panel to NB-V1

Omron states that programs from the original NB panels can be compiled up into NB-V1 projects. It does not claim a project transfers untouched between screen sizes — the resolutions genuinely differ across the range (320 x 240, 800 x 480, 1024 x 600 and 1024 x 768 from 3.5 to 15 inch), so layouts need re-checking when the panel changes. Moving from a discontinued non-V1 panel to NB(-V1) is a recompile and convert operation, not a drop-in swap.

The NA series is not the NB successor

A common mistake is to quote an NA panel as the replacement for an NB panel. Omron's replacement tables map NB to NB(-V1). The NA series replaced the older NT631C and NV generation, and it is programmed in Sysmac Studio rather than NB-Designer, so it will not open an existing NB project. NA sizes are NA5-7W 7.0 inch 800 x 480, NA5-9W 9.0 inch 800 x 480, NA5-12W 12.1 inch 1280 x 800 and NA5-15W 15.4 inch 1280 x 800, all 16.7-million-colour. Omron is phasing the -V1 NA models out during 2027 in favour of -V2.

Frequently asked

Has Omron discontinued the NB series?

The original NB generation reached end of production on 31 March 2025, and the NB3Q-TW01B, NB5Q-TW01B, NB7W-TW01B and NB10W-TW01B are each replaced by the matching -V1 model. The NB Series (-V1) itself is current production and is sold on Omron's live product pages.

What replaces the NB5Q-TW01B-V1?

Nothing — the NB5Q-TW01B-V1 is current production. What reached end of production on 31 March 2025 was the original NB5Q-TW01B, and Omron's designated replacement is the NB5Q-TW01B-V1. The NA series is a different line, programmed in Sysmac Studio, and is not a drop-in for an NB panel.

What is the resolution of the NB5Q-TW01B-V1?

320 x 240. The 320 x 234 figure belongs to the discontinued non-V1 NB5Q-TW01B. Omron's own sites differ on the screen diagonal — industrial.omron.eu lists 5.6 inch on the ordering page while the Chinese and global family pages list 5.7 inch.

What is the difference between NB7W-TW00B-V1 and NB7W-TW01B-V1?

Ethernet. The TW01B-V1 adds a 10/100 BASE-T Ethernet port; the TW00B-V1 has zero Ethernet ports and relies on its serial ports. This is the opposite of how some listings describe them.

What resolution is the NB10W-TW01B-V1?

1024 x 600 WSVGA on a 10.1-inch screen. The discontinued non-V1 NB10W-TW01B was 800 x 480. Quoting 800 x 480 for the -V1 model is a common error.

Can I move an NB-Designer project from a 7-inch to a 10-inch panel?

All NB panels use the same NB-Designer tool, but Omron makes no claim that a project transfers without rework between screen sizes. The resolutions differ across the range, so layouts need re-checking when the panel resolution changes.
