V2 is the 2nd-generation NS series (2014+) with refined firmware, USB Host support, and improved display contrast. V1 (2004-2013) is the original NS. V2 is fully backwards compatible — V1 projects load and run on V2 hardware. V1 hardware is now in long-term support; V2 is current.
