The Omron NS5-SQ10B-V2 is a 5.7-inch TFT colour HMI in the NS series, with a 320 x 240 pixel QVGA display, an Ethernet port, and a black bezel. The 'SQ' in the model code marks Q-mode operation (standard NS-series ladder / function-block screens) and '10B' marks the Ethernet-equipped variant with the black bezel; 'V2' marks the current-generation NS5 hardware. It supports up to four host connections (serial + Ethernet), reads standard Omron Host Link and FINS, and screens are built with CX-Designer. It is the standard pick for small packaging, material-handling, and OEM machines that need a 5.7-inch colour screen at the operator station.

The NS5 line splits by display. The NS5-MQ is STN monochrome; the NS5-SQ is TFT colour with the same QVGA resolution. The NS5-TQ adds an analog touch panel and higher-end display. Pick the NS5-SQ10B-V2 when you need a colour screen with Ethernet and a Q-mode ladder / function-block project. For 3.6-inch displays, drop to the NS3; for 10-12 inch, move up to the NS10 / NS12.
Screen design
Screens are built with CX-Designer and saved as a project on the HMI. The NS5-SQ10B-V2 supports the standard NS-series component library (buttons, lamps, numeric entry, alarms, recipes, trends) and runs projects up to 20 MB. The Ethernet port supports Host Link, FINS, and the standard NS-series ladder transfer (via CX-Designer). The USB slave port on the bottom is for project upload / download.
Before ordering
Confirm the panel cutout is the standard NS5 size (about 184 x 124 mm). Confirm the host PLC supports either Host Link (serial) or FINS (Ethernet) and that the project is built in CX-Designer for the NS series. Order a 24 VDC supply rated at about 12 W for the HMI. For a replacement of an older NS5-SQ10B (non-V2), the V2 is the current production model.

The NS5-SQ10B-V2 is TFT colour, not STN. The SQ prefix in the NS-series means Q-mode TFT colour; the MQ prefix is STN monochrome. Pick the SQ10B-V2 when a colour screen is needed at the operator station; pick the MQ10B-V2 for monochrome applications.
Can the NS5-SQ10B-V2 connect to a CJ-series PLC over Ethernet?
Yes. The Ethernet port supports FINS over TCP / UDP, which is the standard CJ / NJ Ethernet protocol. Use CX-Designer to define the host PLC IP address, port number, and node number. The serial port can also be used for Host Link to older CJ1 / CS1 PLCs.
Is the V2 a different size from the original NS5?
No. The NS5-SQ10B-V2 fits the same panel cutout and mounting holes as the original NS5-SQ10B (non-V2), so it is a drop-in replacement on the panel door. Projects built for the non-V2 screen transfer directly to the V2 through the CX-Designer software without changes.
