The Omron NS5-TQ10B-V2 is the NS-series 5.7-inch QVGA TFT color touch HMI with two serial ports and a USB-B slave -- no Ethernet and no USB host. The TFT LCD shows 65,536 colors at 320 x 240, a clear step up from the STN-color NS5-SQ10B-V2 and the STN-monochrome NS5-MQ10B-V2 in the same 5.7-inch class. The unit fits the same 184 x 132 mm panel cutout as the older NS5 / NSJ5 5.7-inch series and is the standard pick for a like-for-like replacement.

The TQ vs SQ vs MQ split

The NS5 family uses three display codes at the same 5.7-inch QVGA cutout. TQ = TFT color, 65,536 colors, the typical pick for a vivid operator panel. SQ = STN color, ~4,096 colors, the lower-cost pick for a panel where full color is not required. MQ = STN monochrome (4-shade, blue / yellow mode), the pick for a plain text-and-button panel. All three share the same 184 x 132 mm cutout and the same COM1 / COM2 / USB port set, so the panel builder can pick the display class without re-cutting the cabinet door.

Ethernet and USB host

The TQ10B-V2 has NO Ethernet and NO USB-A host -- only COM1 RS-232C, COM2 RS-422A / RS-485 and the USB-B slave. For 10/100 base-T Ethernet on top of the same ports, pick the NS5-TQ10B-ECV2 (the -ECV2 suffix adds Ethernet). For USB-A host on top of the same ports, the NS5 family does not support a USB memory stick on any model -- pick the NB5Q-TW01B-V1 (5.6-inch) or NB7W-TW01B-V1 (7.0-inch) when a USB-stick recipe transfer is needed.

Before ordering

Confirm the panel cutout is 184 x 132 mm. Confirm CX-Designer 3.0 or later is the programming environment -- the NS5-V1 (predecessor) projects move to the NS5-V2 without rework, but the NS5-V2 project file is not backward compatible to the NS5 V1 (the V1 firmware cannot read a V2 project file). Pick the ECV2 suffix when Ethernet is needed. For a 7-inch or 10-inch upgrade, pick the NS8-TV01B-V2 or NS12-TS01B-V2 from the same V2 generation.

An NS5-V1 project can be opened and resaved as a V2 project, but the V2 project file is not backward-compatible to a V1 panel -- the V1 firmware cannot read a V2 project file. Can the NS5-TQ10B-V2 swap an older NS5-V1 unit without reworking the cutout?
Yes. The NS5-V1 and NS5-V2 share the same 184 x 132 mm panel cutout and the same mounting screws, so a V1 panel can be unbolted and a V2 panel bolted in. The project file may need to be migrated from V1 to V2 (CX-Designer opens a V1 project and resaves as V2, then uploads). The front panel seal (IP65), supply (24 VDC), and the COM1 / COM2 pinout are unchanged between V1 and V2, so the swap is mechanical only.
