What does the -V2 suffix on NS5-TQ10B-V2 mean?
V2 = the Ethernet-enabled hardware revision. The V1 (NS5-TQ10B) had serial ports only. The V2 added 10/100 Ethernet for FINS / TCP, Modbus TCP, and EtherNet/IP on top of the standard RS-232C / RS-422A / RS-485 ports. Pick the bezel that matches the cabinet colour scheme - both panels have the same electrical specifications otherwise.
What programming software does the NS5-TQ10B-V2 use?
CX-Designer Ver. 3.x or later as part of CX-One 4.x. CX-Designer project files can be exported to NB-Designer when an NB-series panel replaces the NS5 on a new build, saving a full project rewrite from scratch. Older NB-Designer versions on a CX-One 3.x disc do not include the NB3Q device driver; upgrade before commissioning.
Can the NS5-TQ10B-V2 connect to a non-Omron PLC?
Yes - the panel supports Modbus RTU master + slave on the serial ports and Modbus TCP / EtherNet/IP on Ethernet. For Siemens S7 or Mitsubishi MC protocol, check the CX-Designer driver list for the latest protocol pack on the install. The protocol pack is licensed per CX-Developer install; verify the latest protocol list against your target PLC before ordering.
What CompactFlash card do I need?
A standard Type-I CF card, 16 MB to 2 GB depending on the project size. The card stores the project, the data log, and the recipe set. Use industrial-rated CF cards (SanDisk, Swissbit) for high-vibration cabinet environments. Industrial CF cards include wear-levelling and extended-temperature ratings that consumer cards lack for cabinet duty.
