The NS8-TV01-V2 is the 8.4-inch Ethernet-enabled model of Omron's NS-series programmable terminals. It pairs a 640×480 VGA TFT colour LCD (32,768 simultaneous colours) with a matrix-resistive touch overlay, 60 MB of dedicated screen memory, and a built-in 10/100 Base-TX Ethernet port for connection to a CJ2, NJ, or NX PLC over EtherNet/IP or FINS. Two RS-232C ports handle legacy Host Link / NT Link connections and a barcode reader or recipe bank, while the USB master and slave ports allow project transfer from a memory stick or direct screen editing from a laptop.
What the TV01 suffix adds over the TV00
The defining difference between NS8-TV01-V2 and NS8-TV00-V2 is Ethernet: only the TV01 (and TV01B black-bezel) variants include the 10/100 Base-TX port. The TV01 also supports the optional NS-CLK21 Controller Link Interface Unit for high-speed PLC-to-PLC messaging on a dedicated 2 Mbps Controller Link network — a feature the TV00 cannot use. If your CX-Designer project needs to download over Ethernet, push alarm e-mails to an SMTP server, or serve a web page through the built-in Web Server function, you must use a TV01 (or TV01B) unit.
Programming and runtime
Projects are built in CX-Designer (version 3.0 or later for V2 units), part of the CX-One suite. CX-Designer supports Smart Active Parts — pre-built objects for alarm logs, trend graphs, recipe banks, and ladder-monitor I/O display — so you can stand up an operator screen with live PLC I/O without writing any script. The Ladder Monitor function (with the optional NS-CLK21 and a compatible controller) lets maintenance staff read the controller program from the HMI without a laptop, with I/O comments extracted at build time.
Practical selection and panel considerations
This NS8 fits an 8.4-inch panel cutout (170.9 × 128.2 mm display area, front bezel 230 × 170 mm). The TFT panel with LED backlight is rated 0 to +50 °C ambient, IP65 from the front once mounted with the included gasket, and UL / CSA / CE certified. Note that the entire NS series has been moved to Omron's product discontinuation list, with the NA5-9W001B-V1 (9-inch widescreen) as the recommended replacement. Stocking the NS8-TV01-V2 today is a perfectly good choice for keeping existing lines running, but new designs should evaluate the NA5 family and Sysmac Studio migration path.

What is the difference between NS8-TV01-V2 and NS8-TV00-V2?
Only the TV01 and TV01B variants include the built-in 10/100 Base-TX Ethernet port; the TV00 / TV00B have no Ethernet and connect to the PLC only by RS-232C. The TV01 also supports the optional NS-CLK21 Controller Link Interface Unit for high-speed PLC-to-PLC messaging and Ladder Monitor. If you need Ethernet, alarm e-mail, web server, or Controller Link, you must use a TV01 variant.
Can the NS8-TV01-V2 connect to an NJ or NX controller over Ethernet?
Yes — the built-in Ethernet port supports FINS / EtherNet/IP communication to NJ, NX, NX1P, and any CJ2 / CS1 with an Ethernet module.
