Omron Replacement Guide
Which current Omron model replaces a discontinued one. This page consolidates 31 replacement mappings across 6 series, with the end-of-production dates published by Omron. Every table below is the same verified data used on the individual series pages — if you need the full model list for a series, follow its link.
How to use this guide
- Read the model off the machine. The full suffix matters —
CJ2H-CPU6-EIPandCJ2H-CPU6have different successors. - Find it in the tables below, or on the linked series page.
- Read the footnote for that series. It is where the non-drop-in cases are flagged.
- Confirm the current suffix against the ordering table before ordering. Replacement models are frequently revised themselves.
If the part is not listed here, we may still be able to supply the discontinued model itself. Send us the model and the machine and we will tell you what is actually available.

Replacement tables
Omron CJ-Series PLCs
Discontinued / end-of-life| Discontinued model | End of production | Omron's designated replacement |
|---|---|---|
| CJ2H-CPU6-EIP | 31 May 2023 | CJ2H-CPU6 + CJ1W-EIP21S |
| CJ2M-CPU3□ (CPU31 to CPU35) | 31 May 2023 | CJ2M-CPU1□ (CPU11 to CPU15) + CJ1W-EIP21S |
Source: Omron China discontinuation and replacement database. The substitution is not like-for-like on networking — the EtherNet/IP function moves off the CPU onto a CJ1W-EIP21S unit, so the I/O table and cabling change.
In short: CJ2H-CPU6 + CJ1W-EIP21S for the -EIP models; CJ2M-CPU1 + CJ1W-EIP21S for CJ2M-CPU3□; CJ3M for new builds
Omron CP-Series Compact PLCs
Current production with superseded variants| Discontinued model | End of production | Omron's designated replacement |
|---|---|---|
| CP1L-L* and CP1L-M* | 30 May 2023 | CP2E and CP1L-EL / CP1L-EM |
| CPM2C-* CPU units | 31 Mar 2023 | CP2E- |
| CPM2C-E / CPM2C-C | 31 Mar 2023 | CP1W- / CP2E- (application dependent) |
| CPM2C-CIF01-V1 adapter | 31 Mar 2023 | CP1W-CIF01 |
| CPM2C-MAD11 | 31 Mar 2023 | CP1W-MAD11 |
Source: Omron China discontinuation and replacement database. Replacement is partial — confirm the exact suffix against the ordering table before quoting.
In short: CP2E and CP1L-EL/EM replace CP1L-L and CP1L-M; CP1H remains current
Omron NA Series Programmable Terminals
V1 end of life, V2 current| Discontinued model | End of production | Omron-designated replacement |
|---|---|---|
| NT631C-ST153B-V3 (black) | 30 Sep 2022 | NA5-12W101B-V1 |
| NT631C-ST153-EV3 (ivory) | 30 Sep 2022 | NA5-12W101S-V1 |
| NT31 (older generation) | per model | NA5-7W001B/S-V1 |
| NV3W / NV4W programmable terminals | 2023 | NA5-7W and NA5-9W -V1 |
| NS5 / NS8 / NS10 / NS12 / NS15 | April 2022 | NA5-7W / 9W / 12W / 15W -V1 (see the NS page) |
| NA5-7W001B/S, NA5-9W001B/S (non-V1) | 31 Jan 2021 | the same model on -V1 |
| NA5-12W101B/S, NA5-15W101B/S (non-V1) | 30 Jun 2021 | the same model on -V1 |
Bezel colour carries through the replacement: a black NT631C maps to the black NA (B) and an ivory NT631C to the silver NA (S). The EV suffix on the NT631C denotes Ethernet and does not change which NA colour you take.
In short: The same model on the -V2 hardware revision, e.g. NA5-7W001B-V2 for NA5-7W001B-V1
Omron NB-Series HMIs
Discontinued generation / current successor| Discontinued model | End of production | Omron's designated replacement |
|---|---|---|
| NB3Q-TW01B | 31 Mar 2025 | NB3Q-TW01B-V1 |
| NB5Q-TW01B | 31 Mar 2025 | NB5Q-TW01B-V1 |
| NB7W-TW01B | 31 Mar 2025 | NB7W-TW01B-V1 |
| NB10W-TW01B | 31 Mar 2025 | NB10W-TW01B-V1 |
| NV3W-M□0(L)-V1 | 30 Nov 2023 | NB3Q-TW01B-V1 |
| NV4W-M□1 | 30 Jun 2023 | NB3Q-TW01B-V1 |
| NV3Q-□□□1 | 30 Jun 2023 | NB5Q-TW01B-V1 |
| NT631C-ST153B-V3 | 30 Sep 2022 | NA5-12W101B-V1 |
Source: Omron China discontinuation and replacement database. Note the NV and NT series map into NB and NA respectively — they are not one continuous line.
In short: Original NB TW01B models map to the matching -V1 model — not to the NA series
Omron NS Series Operator Terminals
End of life| Your NS model | Size / resolution | Omron-designated NA successor |
|---|---|---|
| NS5 | 5.7" 320x240 | NA5-7W001B/S-V1 (7.0", 800x480) |
| NS8 | 8.4" 640x480 | NA5-9W001B/S-V1 (9.0", 800x480) |
| NS10 | 10.4" 640x480 | NA5-9W001B/S-V1 (9.0", 800x480) |
| NS12 | 12.1" 800x600 | NA5-12W101B/S-V1 (12.1", 1280x800) |
| NS15 | 15.0" 1024x768 | NA5-15W101B/S-V1 (15.4", 1280x800) |
Two things to know before you plan a swap. First, Omron's own guide maps both NS8 and NS10 onto the 9-inch NA5-9W — a physical downsize for NS10 owners, and some distributor EOL lists send NS10 to the 12-inch instead. Second, the aspect ratio changes: NS is 4:3, NA-with-W is 16:10, so layouts will not drop in unchanged. Bezel mapping is black NS to black NA (B), ivory NS to silver NA (S).
In short: NA series — see the NS-to-NA mapping table on this page
Omron Servo
Current production| Model | Safety functions | Note |
|---|---|---|
| R88D-1SN..-ECT | STO | Standard 1S EtherCAT drive |
| R88D-1SN..-ECT-51 | STO, SS1, SLS | Limited-stop and safe-speed options |
| R88D-1SAN..-ECT | STO, SS1, SS2, SOS, SLS, SLP, SDI, SBC | 1S Motion Safety, up to 3 kW |
| R88D-K..-ECT (G5) | STO | Previous generation, still orderable |
Omron publishes I868 as the formal G5-to-1S replace guide. Where a G5 used MECHATROLINK-II or analog command there is no 1S equivalent — the 1S range is EtherCAT only, so the network has to change or the drive stays G5.
In short: 1S-series for new designs; G5 remains orderable with no published EOL
Where the sources disagree
Omron's own publications are not always consistent with each other, and neither are the distributor end-of-life lists that quote them. Where we have found a conflict, we show you both rather than quietly picking one:
- NS10 has no 10-inch successor. Omron's own NS-to-NA guide maps both the NS8 and the NS10 onto the 9-inch NA5-9W, so an NS10 owner is physically downsized. Some distributor EOL lists send NS10 to the 12-inch instead. Both positions are documented.
- NA series end-of-production dates. The -V1 line and the -V2 line carry different end dates in different Omron regional publications. Check the date against the region you are shipping into.
- Some "replacements" are range-level, not part-level. Where Omron states a replacement for a whole family, treat the exact suffix as unconfirmed until you check the ordering table.
If you have found a conflict we have not listed, tell us and we will check it against Omron's documentation and add it.
Frequently asked questions
How do I find the replacement for a discontinued Omron part?
Match the model on the machine against the tables below, then confirm the exact suffix against the ordering table before you order. Suffixes change the electrical and networking behaviour of the same base model, so a match on the base model alone is not sufficient.
Are the replacements on this page drop-in substitutes?
Not always. Where a substitution moves a function off the CPU onto a separate unit — for example the CJ2H-CPU6-EIP moving EtherNet/IP onto a CJ1W-EIP21S — the I/O table and cabling change. Those cases are flagged in the footnotes. Never assume a like-for-like swap without reading the note.
Do you still stock the discontinued models themselves?
Often, yes. Parts listed as discontinued by Omron continue to exist in the independent distribution channel, and a machine that is down usually cannot wait for a redesign. Send us the model and we will tell you whether we can supply it, what condition it is in, and what the current equivalent is.
Which Omron terminals replace the NS series?
Omron discontinued the NS series in April 2022 and names the NA series as the successor. NS5 maps to NA5-7W, NS8 and NS10 both map to NA5-9W, NS12 to NA5-12W and NS15 to NA5-15W. Note that NS10 owners are downsized to a 9-inch screen, because Omron's own guide sends both NS8 and NS10 to the 9-inch model.
Is the NB series discontinued?
The original NB generation was discontinued on 31 March 2025. NB Series (-V1) is current production and is the direct successor, with the same model numbers carrying a -V1 suffix. The older NV3W and NV4W terminals map into the NB line rather than the NA line.
