Omron DRT2 Smart DeviceNet I/O Units

DRT2 is Omron's Smart DeviceNet family — IP67-rated digital and analog I/O units for DeviceNet networks, built for machine installation where a conventional DIN-rail I/O block would not survive. Units are available with M12 round connectors, MIL connectors or e-con connectors so the enclosure can stay sealed.

8 SKUs in stock Current production, with two analog models discontinued

Lifecycle status

Digital and mixed units are current; the -AD04 and -DA02 analog units are end-of-life

DRT2 is listed as a current family. Omron's discontinuation records flag the analog units DRT2-AD04 and DRT2-DA02 as discontinued. Omron does not publish the replacement path for those two, so if you are replacing an analog unit, confirm with us before ordering.

What to fit instead: None published for DRT2-AD04 and DRT2-DA02

Key specifications

How to read a DRT2 model number

Four letters and a point count. The connector suffix is the part that decides whether it fits your enclosure.

Unit Function Points / rating
DRT2-DA02 Analog output 2 channel — note: discontinued
DRT2-ID16 Digital input, transistor, 16 point 16 points, NPN/PNP per suffix
DRT2-ID16S Digital input, 16 point, e-con connector 16 points
DRT2-MD16 Mixed digital in/out, transistor, 16 point 16 points
DRT2-MD16S Mixed digital, 16 point, e-con connector 16 points
DRT2-OD16-1 Digital output, transistor, 16 point, PNP 16 points
DRT2-OD32ML Digital output, transistor, 32 point, MIL connector 32 points
DRT2-ROS16 Relay output unit 16 relay points, 3 A 240 VAC / 24 VDC

IP67 C and CL variants use round M12 connectors. The M12 and MIL families are not interchangeable with e-con units, so confirm the enclosure penetration before ordering.

Frequently asked

What does DRT2-MD16 mean?

A mixed digital input and output unit with 16 transistor I/O points. The M is the mixed signal type, D means 16 or 32 point transistor I/O, and 16 is the point count. The S suffix on DRT2-MD16S selects the e-con connector instead of the standard one.

Is DRT2 a relay?

Mostly no. DRT2 is a Smart DeviceNet I/O family — digital and analog input and output units for a DeviceNet network. Only the DRT2-ROS16 uses mechanical relay contacts, at 3 A, 240 VAC or 24 VDC. The rest are transistor I/O.

Which DRT2 connector type should I choose?

It depends on your enclosure. C and CL variants are IP67 with round M12 connectors, ML and MLX use MIL connectors with or without a short cable, S is an e-con connector, and TA is a three-tier screw terminal block. These are physically different and are not interchangeable — tell us how the cable enters the cabinet and we will match it.

Is DRT2-DA02 still available?

It is flagged as discontinued, and Omron does not publish a designated replacement. The digital and mixed digital units remain current. If you specifically need the 2-channel analog output, confirm availability with us before ordering.
